2 Innkeepers, 1 inn. Why does 1 of them have nothing to sell

Post » Sat Nov 22, 2014 12:12 pm

Hi all. I’m having real problems with a brother and sister that own and live in the same inn. I can rent a room from either of them but when I ask what they have for sale I have issues. They work shifts, when the brother is there and I ask what he has for sale I get meagre options being level 1 for testing but he offers me something. The sister on the other hand when presenting me with food options has none. I’ve tried making them both their own chest and sharing a chest in the factions vendor form but still the sister has nothing but the brother always has something. Their factions are identical except when using two chests I give them individual factions which relate to their individual chests. When sharing one chest I give them both the same faction for that chest, still nothing from the sister. In their actor forms they are both VendorFood. In their factions form they are both VendorItemsInnkeeper.

I am at a complete loss as to why the sister has nothing to sell but the brother does. Help please.

I think you need to set up a separate inventory for each vendor, not share it.

I think there are some buildings in the game that have multiple vendors so you can look at one of those to see how they did it for the game. I can't remember where though, although the cities have markets with multiple vendors so at least you could look at those.

ccna, i can definitely confirm you can share inventories, my Yzmir's Beard mod does that.

antstubell, how's it with ownerships? if the brother npc was the chest's owner, i think this would cause just what you describe

The chests are not owned by any NPC or Faction. I just selected them in the render window in the Faction form.

@Cat Herder. I have two separate chests, two separate Factions (for the chests), 1 for the brother and 1 for the sister. Chests are identical with identical contents only difference is their IDs. In the Faction form both are ticked "Can be owner". I can't remember anywhere in game where vendors share a chest. Puzzled.

Looks like, that the Start Hour/End Hour of your Vendor faction isn't correct.

For example: Brother sells from 8am to 8pm, Sister sells from 8pm to 8am. You need two Vendor Factions, one for each Inn keeper with the corret Start Hour/End Hour. Synchronize this with their "wok" packages. Then you can assign the same chest to both Vendor factions.

I currently have them both selling 24hr. You're saying this could be the issue. Only 1 way to find out.

EDIT: I gave them fixed 12hr shifts. Sister 8am to 8pm, brother 8pm to 8am (this is when the inn is full of drunken sailors, no place for a lady). I synchronised their AI packages. I did the same with their Faction Vendor forms but I knew something wouldn't work, I also gave them the same chest. Anyway went in game when sister was tending the inn dialogue appears but again she has nothing. Set gamehour to brothers shift. Sister goes to bed, brother tends bar. Initiated conversation with him and the "What do you have for sale?" doesn't appear.

I'm guessing the problem with the brother is that unlike AI packages where you can set a start time and a duration, so you could start a package at 23.00hr with a duration of 2hrs this package would carry over to the next day. Whereas in the Faction Vendor form you have to specify a start and end time. So in the brother's example I put a start time of 20.00hr and an end time of 8.00 this would not work. I've been told before in this forum that the game does not "see/recognise" the following day. Only when 23.59 goes to 0.00 does the game "know" its a new day.

Also tried using individual chests - same result. I need to rethink this all over unless anybody can suggest something else. Thanks.
