I'm about to start modding, but I'd rather get this groundwork out of the way first.

My laptop has integrated Intel HD graphics, and an nvidia GeForce 840M. I've installed Morrowind GotY, and when I checked the launcher's options, the only option in the 'adapter' drop down menu was 'Intel® HD Graphics Family' - my integrated graphics card. It wasn't picking up my 840. I shrugged it off and figured I'd just see if it worked for now and do that later. Loaded up my test save in Seyda Neen, getting 60-100 fps depending on what I was looking at at max settings (1400x1050, I'll cap it later and use MGE or FPSO to get a proper resolution).

Alt-tabbed. In the taskbar, my nvidia gpu activity icon said nothing was using the nvidia. Made sense I guess. So I went into the nvidia control panel and set both Morrowind.exe and the launcher to use the nvidia processor. Before I changed it, they both were running on 'use global settings (auto-select: Integrated'. Ran the game through the launcher again, still, the only option was the intel. Same fps. Quit, and run Morrowind.exe on its own - same results. Again, in both these tests my nvidia activity thing in the taskbar was grey and said 'none'.

Either my laptop's integrated graphics are comically better than my last (it's pretty good - I was testing XCom EW on it for a friend and I could get 20-30fps at minimal settings, but 60+ at 1400x1050 Morrowind isn't believable), or Morrowind just uses my nvidia in such a way that it doesn't pick it up.

Can someone give me a hand? I'm a bit worried that even with shadows off my fps will start to dip pretty damn low once I mod stuff in, especially if I try MGE. But that's no biggie. What I really want to know is if Morrowind.exe is using the nvidia, and how I can confirm it is. I'll figure it out from there.
