After having burn myself by buying games that I regreted, including early access games that never got fixed,I took the decision at some point to not be hasty to buy games, but only to buy one after watching several reviews of them and reading many user comments,to make sure that not only the gameplay will be fun to me,but also that the game will work nicely. Note that I play on PC. During 2013 I expected that 2014 would be a year full of gaming,as I thought many good games would come out this year.
So I was kind of interested on BF4,but it was full of technical problems at its launch, and I kept visiting forum threads on the game, and even a year later, the game still had unresolved issues. So I didn't bought it.
I also got excited about 'The Forest',but eventually it wouldn't be released as a finished game but as an early access full of bugs, and its still not complete,so I haven't bought this either.
I got excited about Thief, but this was too in a bad technical state, and many also said it wasn't as good,so I skipped that too.
I got excited about TESO,but unfortunately I later learnt that it would be a subscription game, and I'm against all kinds of subscriptions,I prefer paying once, whenever I want to in my life as a principle.
I got excited about Watch Dogs, but it was dumbed,it had technical problems, and its requirements where ridiculously high for the graphics quality the game has, which indicates a serious problem.Reviews said it was also bad as a game,so I skipped that too.
I was also excited for Destiny, but then I would learn that it wouldn't come on PC,and even later on that it lacked closure and felt samey and incomplete,so erase that too.
Another game that I got me excited for 2014 during 2013,was Witcher 3,but it was postponed for another year,so remove that too from 2014.
Eventually, the only game that I was interested in for the whole year 2014,and after its release I'm intending to buy,is Far Cry 4.
The reason I share this,is because I have to play a game for so long, and buy a new one even longer, and I feel kind of weird,as I like playing games, and for example in 2013,which I thought before that it was a 'dry' year,I bought more than 10 games, yet this year I only bought 2 games, back at Spring, and they weren't even big or new,but one was a 2011 game, and the other an indie game. I personally didn't enjoyed this year, and think it was kind of disappointing from a gamer's perspective.
What about you ? Did you enjoyed this year game-wise ? Are you satisfied about it,and what are your other thoughts and comments of gaming in 2014 ?
