Urgant Help Needed: Need a Mod Expert!

Post » Sun May 16, 2010 3:00 pm

Ok: Using the construction set, I have created a new creature list containing 3 Black Bears and 3 Brown Bears. I named it aaCreaturePackBlackandBrownBearsList. I placed this list in LL1WildernessForest. I deleted all other animal lists because I wanted to test this mod out first to see if it worked.

Well, I have found it does work BUT only spawns EITHER black OR brown bears, NOT Both. I.e. I wanted a mix of black and brown bears, say, 1 brown bear and 2 black, or visa versa, but it just isn't happening. All that happens is I get either one set of black, or one set of brown.

I really can't find any solution as to why this is happening and it has had me stumped for over a week now. No one I have spoken to has any answers so I am hoping there is someone here who is an expert at modding to help me out.

Thank you for listening,

Dusty

Unfortunately, what you want to do cannot be done with a single Leveled List. When a leveled spawn loads in a cell, the game looks through the list to determine what should be spawned there and it will only select one entry from the list. If that entry is a brown bear, a brown bear will spawn. If that brown bear entry is set up to spawn two creatures, two brown bears will spawn. I really wish there was a way to get multiple different creatures to spawn at the same time from one list, but the game just isn't set up to do that. What you could do is put two different spawn points there and set their chances of spawning something to 100% and 50%. That way, you would get multiple spawns half the time and they would some times be a mix of black and brown bears.

Since the random chance determination in Oblivion is bugged (if chance none is 50% you will either spawn 2 bears or none at all with a 50% for each case), why not use a nested leveled list instead? Simply make a leveled list with one of each bear type inside and set the 'calculate for each item in count' flag. Then put that leveled list in the LL1WildernessForest list. Now you can set the count how you wish and each bear that spawns will be randomly chosen from the nested list with an equal chance for each type of bear.
