I've been noticing a few games getting re released as "legendary" or "anniversary" editions. They typically just modify the graphics, maybe add some of there more modern skills tree's, menu options, etc.
I am a big fan of elder scrolls. TES morrowind, and bloodmoon are hands down my favorite, Skyrim is right behind them.
This made me think. With the power of xbox one, and PS4 (and computers as well), it would be more than possible to re-release TES with some key modifications. I know that a game like TES takes a large crew years to make. I mean one dungeon can have over 500 pick up items, much less detailing, animations, scripting, etc. TES is 40x bigger then almost any other blockbuster game. If you agree to re release of this, share this, bump it with comments, lets see if this can grasp the attention of our favorite studio.
1st. With modern consoles it should be more than possible to convert a town into one load in area. What do I mean? Whiterun, you load into it, then you have to load in and out of any and all buildings that you go into. When you have a high end character (level 80+, 100 hours+) each of these load times can take 20-300 seconds. So going in and out of every building in just one town, can take an hour or more, even though they really aren't that big. Make it so that when you load into one town, everything except for underground/hidden caves (such as riftens the ratways) don't need a load. With modern console processors, general loading times should take a lot less time. The "3d load screen" was cool the first few times we saw it, but it's pointless. Just leave it a 2d picture so that it can process faster, and we can get back to the game faster.
2nd. Love this game. I have personally logged over 3000 hours in it (between about 8 different characters), it's 99% to perfect, it just needs some more fine tuning. One is some animations, how a lot of times dragons will noze dive into the ground, then fly straight up again. Make them more fluid. Dragon fights are the most enjoyable fight in skyrim, and the biggest reason we come back to it (what other game can I fight a dragon, and not just the one, but many, in a variety of places, in a variety of ways?). Just do some polishing on the animations. Also stats could use a help. I think after passing level 80, not only should we get more difficult enemies (which happens around level 40-50), but we should get much more of them, or something. I typically level grind till i'm level 60 before even doing any major quests, then crank the game to "master difficulty" (Not a fan of legendary difficulty, having to sink 30 arrows when I do 1000dmg with every shot... into just a rat...) I mean some bigger fight's I have had are draugr's up to 13 of them active at a time, 6 were death lords. I think more large fights like this will be fun. Maybe give opponents even higher end weapons, armor, spells, etc.
3rd. Add just a little bit to the game. Another armor/weapon set or two would go a long ways. I think giving higher end skills and increasing skill tree's to maybe 200 each would help (bow gets either faster shots, or maybe can shoot two arrows at once, duel wield maybe you can block with them, thief increase gold found in locked containers by 3x (300%) etc. Also the only thing I really despise about TES is how little the vendors have. The most in Skyrim is the girl in the thieves guild once you have it fully rebuilt, she has 5k... Even without doing any stat padding, deadric items still sell for 6-13k, and with enchantments and proper smithing, can often hit 20k. Give us one grandmaster, legendary, godly vender,, maybe high up in the mountains, or deep in a cave, that has at least 10000 gold, preferably more like 30k. As I said in white run for the load times (including sleeping to replenish vendors money), making 100k could take HOURS, just because of loading between doors, sleeping, etc etc).
4th. This is the one thing that would take a lot of effort on the Bethesda teams part. And I know it's asking a lot, but if you could make this possible, literally nothing else would need to be edited/fixed/etc (though it would be highly appreciated), and that is... Co op. If you made this game just two player, it would be amazing. No holds bard. None of this modern RPG (co op only in challenge mode, only on specific missions, only in open world but not on the campaign) bull. 100% co op through every bit of it. Weather we are in the same town selling, smithing, etc at the same time, killing dragons together, clearing different parts of the same dungeon, whatever. Obviously a few things would have to cater to co op. A. Any item picked up preferably each person gets one of (maybe comparable to their level. I.E. the level 50 gets ebony or deadric, the level 10 gets silver) If not make it like borderlands where any money/currency each player gets when one player picks it up, but weapons only have one copy of them, so weapons are up for trade/debate. Also mining and botany should be one item each since if one guy clears an entire area it leaves none for the other guy. Vendor currency should also be separate (if one guy buys all the black soul gems and sells till the vendor has no money, it shouldn't effect the other guy)
5th. This would just be a nice little bonus. I think all DLC's should be included, and you should release more dlcs (which you can/should charge for) in the future.
If you did all 5 of these things, I would happily pay 60$ again. Hell, i'd happily pay 120$ since this game is MORE THAN double any other game on console as far as content goes. On skyrim I bought a PS3 just because it had the better graphics, just for skyrim (found out shortly after, that it didn't, and the dlc's had a lot of issues). I got this ps3 and the big legendary edition of skyrim with the dragon statue. Just that was 500$. Bought the strategy guide, the xbox 360 copy of the game, all dlcs, then played it so much the disc cracked, so bought another copy. All in all Skyrim I spent 700+ on, and would happily play more if it was re released like this. I would much rather see this come out in the next year, then have to wait 4+ years till the next one. While that would be well worth it, life is too short, and this game is long enough to get another few thousands hours of enjoyment out of, just needs a few tweaks. Agreed?
