Fallout 4 Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas # 236

Post » Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:08 am

This thread is so that we can keep all the discussion, rumors and speculation in one place.
This topic is for a friendly discussion of ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4.

We all have opinions about what the next game should have and should not have. Each of us has the right to express that opinion freely. There are points we agree on and points we do not agree on. This means that people are going to disagree with you on some things. Accept that and move on. No need to beat your point so far into the ground that no one wants to look at it any more.

At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included, in a future Fallout game.

With the Editor, it would be easy to count the number of interior cells that the game has.

Number of cells isn't the problem, it's the total combined size of all those cells that is the problem.

I don't think its possible to make TES more unique then it already is.

What other series has hermaphroditic, bug armored, gods, who can turn their junk into magic flying spears, can chop of their own heads, which they let Molag Bal have his way with?

That's not even getting into the LITERAL time traveling terminator robots, who are avatars of the gods, and are bat[censored] crazy.

Yeah, but that's only Kirkbride, right?

I think TES is unique as it is, no need to get Kirkbride level over the top. I liked Morrowind lore as it was before all that bs about CHIM started getting out.

The whole in universe fourth wall breakage of CHIM and the general craziness that is poking out under the surface of the lore if you take the time to investigate is pretty cool.

I still wish TES was 100% balls out crazy like it was in Morrowind, but that remains the only TES game that went for maximum weird, while the rest all require a small bit of curiosity to uncover stuff like that the sun is a literal hole in the universe which magicka flows through.

No, its all in the game's, referenced in books.

You even mantle and literally become said time traveling robot in Oblivion, they even made the entire knights of the nine DLC to make it even more obvious, with The Prophet even outright saying YOU ARE PLEINAL REBORN!

You think the seemingly insane rambling priest was being metaphorical or something?

Never played Knights of the Nine, if that's what you're referencing.

Was all this horse[censored] about time travelling robots and khajiit going to the moon referenced in Morrowind? I don't remember that. I like that TES is strange at times, but many of this Kirkbride stuff is just too crazy, many of it can't even be taken seriously.

I think the time traveling was invented for Oblivion, but the moon stuff has been around since Morrowind IIRC.

I like the idea of Kirkbride style, totally crazy lore. And it would be nice if it had some bearing on the series, but it doesn't really. When you're playing the game, it's only visible in the most minute ways, through books which are unclear and events that are ambiguous, and no one in game is aware of any of it. It has no effect on the game world, which still feels for the most part like a generic fantasy setting, which I like well enough.

But I can appreciate the parallels between that and our universe. Totally wacky unknowable quantum mechanics and laws that are visible but we took for granted while we should have been marvelling at them exist in our universe, and humanity just mundanely went with the flow for millennia until science developed. And even now, apart from advances in technology, we take the nature of the universe for granted, and go about things as mundanely as ever. So I guess I do like the Kirkbride lore as it is, not that I actually know or understand a word of it. It makes the ES universe even more like a real one, even though it's fantasy styled.

So what's your speculation for the next gaming convention that might shed some light on the future Bethesda publication? Apparently VGX got a bullet to the head, deservedly so perhaps, and the Game Awards did not include anything from Bethesda.

At this point I'd say it will be announced totally randomly, not at an event. But if it will be an event then either PAX East or QuakeCon.

It does, it effects everything you do in every game's MQ, you just have to understand how it does.

I agree with this statement, Bethesda has the sort of fanbase and PR pull that they can announce their games whenever they want to and still get as much hype as if they announced it at a big event. They cant, and most likely will, do it whenever they feel like regardless of what is going on.

I felt sick watching the Game Awards this year. It was alright, and there was nothing 'sickening' about it, but it was so boring and lame. It bills itself as an exciting event at which amazing new information is revealed and history is made. None of it. The event is totally boring. Until the day comes that major developers all announce their games at the Game Awards (imagine each year's CoD, Assassin's Creed, etc being announced at TGA) the event will be dull. Either that, or they need to give some actual information when announcing indie games, because all we got were teaser trailers.

So, I don't see an event like TGA being a place for Bethesda's announcements in the future. CLEARLY no developers any longer want to announce at TGA, and we should recognize that. The next exent, I think, is PAX East, is that right? Its in Boston so people think that's a likely location but I personally think that there is nothing gained from actually announcing Fallout 4 at the event itself. I suspect we will se an exclusive Bethesda event, or an online reveal, or some media stunt before PAX, and then perhaps information at PAX or though GI or something like that. It's all up in the air, as you can tell.
