Hello to you, allmighty and allknowing forumers.
I come to you in my time of need...
Since, well, two days, around that, (since I installed a few old games and had a AMD driver update in fact), my skyrim has loads of issues.
I do not know whether it comes from the quest I'm currently doing being known for its graphical bug (thats' the Labyrinthian quest for the College) (I don't think so), from a software graphical problem (either from the game or the drivers), or if it's something to do with the hardware and my graphical card.
Here's King annoyance and it's court :
- I often (more often than I could ever remember) have problems with fog (mostly inside dungeons) where it would flicker, like micro-disappearances and comebacks. Like once or twice every second, whether I am moving my camera or character or not (though it does so more often while moving).
- I sometimes have loading screens with the fog getting very one-color like, like someone used a paint bucket to replace the fog, and the colors vary from cyan, to magenta, to full black. It hides most of the object floating around and hides the message.
- the lighting is degenerate in dungeons (especially the room in Labyrinthian where one fight the dragon priest).
- waterfalls have the same flickering issue as the fogs and brumes.
- torches and other sources of light sometimes micro-unlight-light and it sometimes hurt the eye.
- some particles have clear problems in game : the staff of Magnus gets a full black or full white intermitant circle at its top, and Morokei gets colored in red, yellow or blue (like one opaque thingy) sometimes, and that's always changing.
- I sometimes manage to pause in the middle of bugfilled action, to have psychedelic visions of squares and triangles full of uniform bright colors, as if I had been watching in a wall with clipping issues in other games.
That's for the problem. I'm no expert, and thought you might help me.
I reinstalled my AMD drivers to see if that was where the problem came from : short answer : NO CHANGE.
I tried getting either low graphic quality in the starting menu to see any difference : no effect on the above troubles. Likewise, I tried putting everything to the max, but I did not notice any difference either.
I can assure you my graphic card and PC are all but good for playing that game at the setting I like without any lag, usually, for it had been so for quite some time now.
I hope whoever responds to that thread has any insight on what the problem is, and where it comes from. Maybe I am not the only one in that situation too.
Anyway, thanks for reading this.
