Immersive Carry-weight Mod?

Post » Sat Dec 13, 2014 1:07 am

I was wondering if there is a mod that increases the weight of most items in the game for immersive purposes. I'd actually like to be limited as to what and how many items I can carry at once.

I carry:
鈥ot's of food & drinks (Basic Needs)
鈥ent, firewood, wood chopping axe (Frostfall)
鈥word, shield & bow + arrows
鈥ight armor
鈥uite a number of potions

I store my cooking pot, tents, firewood, woodcutter's axe, pickaxe, pelts, raw meat and tanning rack in my horse (Convenient Horses). I'm constantly managing my inventory because it seems that I have too many items even though I store all items that I don't need in my horse.

I think it'll be a good idea to have a mod that increases item weight so it forces you to have a 'realistic' amount of stuff on you at once. That way, the backpacks from Frostfall will really come in handy and inventory management will be A LOT easier and quicker as you only have to manage the few items you have.

I found the mod, Realistic Carry Weight and it sets the carry weight based on race. The description wasn't clear in telling whether:
*You could add the mod to an existing save
*If stamina still increases carry weight when levelling up

I'm actually working on a mod that overhauls the weight and price of (hopefully) all the items/goods/services/abodes in the game, as well as the carry weight for races, to be more balanced and realistic-ish. I wasn't planning on releasing it publicly because i'm changing a few other little things for myself, like crafting recipes (in fact, most of the weapons and armor recipes are adjusted based on the materials shown in the 3D model). I'm also planning on making plugins for Frostfall, Skyre, Immersive Weapons/Armor, a couple others. I'm probably a little over half-way done with the vanilla game, and it will take me a while to finish and make sure it works, but if Realistic Carry Weight ends up lacking what you want, I'll be happy to share my esp.

I have my own custom way of handling carry weight.

First off open the console ~ and type " player.setav carryweight 100 ". This will set your carry weight to 100 (which I find to be a balanced number for realism and gameplay but you can change that to what ever you feel it needs to be.

Second, I use mods like http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11163/?, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27563/? and http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16438/?. All of which add equipment to increase your carry weight. FF and W&C have other features but if you dont like them you can disable them, but I recommend at least keeping W&C features active because of the added immersion it adds.

Third, but currently not using (will explain), use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11322/?. It allows you to set limits to how many of cetain items you can physically carry by either managing space and/or managing numbers. By this you can set either a physical number of X item you can carry or set how much carry space you character has and then how much of that space items take up (like Deusix Human Revolution). My issue with this mod is that if you pick up too much you will begin dropping things which can potentially go unnoticed. I would rather a system where you are prevented from even picking up a item if it will set you over said limit.

Fourth, use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1175/? (be sure to READ this fully understand it's capabilities!). This will allow you to set how much carry weight you gain when you level up. If you want to stay static throughout the game set it to 0 for health/magicka/stamina.

Bonus, use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14950/? and set your horses carry weight. With this you can store items in your horses "saddle bags" and then set how much it can carry. I usually use 150.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the helpful reply! I currently use: Convenient Horses, Frostfall & Wet & Cold. I will surely try Bandoiler- Bags & Pouches as well as the Community Uncapper and EK Limited Items soon! :)

Two other mods that you may want to look into are:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57958/? - If you prefer Frostfall's backpacks to Wet and Cold's then you can use this to replace W&C's with FF's.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49791/? - While fixing a lot of the crafting nuances and giving you better options for crafting it also takes into account mods like Bandoliers. With this you can allow CCOR to control the Bandolier assets. You still need the meshes and textures installed but it will save you a .esp slot, two if you also use the Bandolier Dawnguard addon. It will also allow you to customize how much extra carry weight the pouches will give you, so you can better tailor them to fit your wants. Be sure though to read it's mod page and download the patches for other mods you might have like SkyRe.
