I have been thinking about some mods that I would like to make that would support the way I like to play the game. In reading posts on various sites I realized that others might be interested in them as well. I was wondering if I could get some feedback on what the group thinks about these ideas before I start.
First of all, I have no expierence with the CK (Creation Kit), so I will have to learn how to use it. I have no problem with this. It is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time. I have already watched the ten videos that are linked on the CK Wiki page. I'm a curious person so I've read books on VBA (Visual Basic for Appilcations), PowerShell, HTML and CSS) so I'm familiar with terms like: Variable, Function, If - Then, etc. I have no problem learning to program as well.
My ideas in no paticular priority are:
I'm a junk collector. I really like having a place where I can look at the different armors and weapons that I've collected. There are some really beautiful weapons/armors out there. I would refer to it as more of a museum than an armory.
Budda_Belly's Basemant (B_BB) - a mod for storing weapons and armor. I know, there are a bunch of them out there. Here's the difference. Two mannequins male/female side by side with a weapon rack and shield rack. Let's face it folks some of the armors look much better on a female mannequin than they do on a male one. I was thinking of a room with acloves or slightly raised dias' down each side. One side is where I would feature heavy armor and the other light armor. There would also be a storage box for each so I could keep different armor sets to be able to rotate them easily to keep the room fresh looking. There would also be some stand alone weapon/shield racks on the wall for those one-of-a-kind items,e.g., Dawnbreaker, Windhelm axe, etc. Also some smaller display cases down the middle for my favorite daggers. Is it possible to have just a mannequin head for displaying circlets/helmets/hoods? How about a jewelry display case that you can have 8, 10 amulets hanging up so you can see them easily?
I see in various posts that a person loves a house mod but asks the mod author for more storage. Couldn't the requestor open the CK, add a door that reflects the house's decor or a trapdoor and link it to B_BB (maybe have to do a little navmeshing) and voila...problem solved? Or the mod author could do this and store it under Optional Files, Mod Name - Storage and then require B_BB...yes?
Base of Operation Caves (BOEC) - A quest that let's you find a series of caves that are more than just normal sized caves. There would be one per hold. You would still have your main home, if you so desired. Sometimes your journeys take you away from home for extended periods of time, especially Hunter, Ranger and Scout characters. The quest would have you acquire a key and map, or book, that shows the location of secret caves that have been used by a family for generations to work out of. The caves have the basics of what a traveler needs. There would be a locked door, or two, a chopping block, an alchemy table (a person living in the wild needs to know how to create potions for healing), a place where you and your follower can get well rested, a place to cook, a spring fed well, a little storage so you don't have to carry a bunch of unneeded stuff with you all day, etc.
The outer cave would have the chopping block and well. Can you set it up so you can ride your horse into a cave? If so, there would be a place to get your horse(s) out of the weather. The inner cave would be where all the living facilities would be.
Finally,
A dog follower - I mean a true follower. One that levels, has it's own perk tree, can sneak when you do, follows orders like guard, hunt, attack, defend and scout. It can carry items in it's saddle bags (limit the weight it can carry). It has a collar to protect it's throat and it's own armor - can be bought or crafted.
I would welcome any comments, suggestions or even voulenteers that can help.
