Wondering if anyone else encountered this unique npc.

While wandering around in Solitude, in my Archmage robe, a npc dressed in mage apprentice gear walks up, and asks about joining the College. Asks if I can teach him a spell or test his magic, how to cast a ward. I should go first...then launches massive magic attack.

Needless to say, I wasn't quite prepared for that.

Haven't encountered him again, but now a bit wary about wandering around in town without my armor on.

Anybody else meet this fellow?

Huh, I've never seen that happen. Sounds incredibly interesting.

If it is a mod I need to find it, that sounds like a cool thing to have happen.

I have many mods, but none that I know of that introduces this chap. I use interesting NPCs, but they are more for immersion, and some immersive patrols, ect. Shouldn't be that.

ha it's not an assassin, it's a magic student who wants to learn about wards so you're supposed to use a ward while he fires a spell at you. It's one of the many random encounters- http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Random_Encounters

I think it's a one time encounter so you'll never see him on the same character again.

Ah, OK, I think I know what happened there. My followers....aggressive types that they are, obviously misunderstood, which is why he went aggro.

At lvl 64, he was a pretty "adept"magic student for sure. R.I.P.

Stupid followers, can't tell a student from a threat.

I never meet with that mage I might meet him in a new city.

Its a random encounter. One of the more rare one, at least in all my playthroughs.
