Games that have taught you a thing or two

What are some games that have taught you something that can apply to the real world?

For instance, I don't think I'd know as much as I do about cars hadn't it been for games like Forza.

I don't think id have such a strong sense for home staging, feng shui and interior design hadn't it been for The Sims.

Share a game that has taught you a thing or two.

Well. Civilization has a catch on political issues even if it's mostly exaggerated and simple but it served to throw me into politics.

Total War definitely taught me some strategy, and some history.

I like Rome the best.

Rome Total War is what pushed me into Classics at university

And DayZ has taught me about trust.

Age of Empires 2 taught me some history as a kid, and probably contributed to my later love of history.

The video games I played as a child (Zelda, Pokemon etc) probably contributed to my literacy development.

Fallout 3 taught me the importance of water when travelling in America.

Dishonored taught me that we should immediately move from reliance on petroleum to whale oil.

DOTA 2 taught me that people are utter, utter bastards.

All games - English. I didn't take any courses, I picked up English from various media, and games are probably the most important example. Especially Morrowind, it was the first game that didn't include horribly standard level English, and expanded my vocabulary with quite a couple of odd words. :P

Civilization 2's encyclopedia taught me a lot of history and the many different forms of government. It also taught me resource management.
