Trouble installing hi-res texture packs

Post » Sat Dec 13, 2014 11:04 pm

Hi all,

I seem to be unable to use the official hi-res texture packs without running into CTDs or obtrusive visual errors, or both.

For some background, I recently learned that somehow I had been playing without the hi-res packs (all the other DLCs are installed). I already have a modest amount of mods running, but as these are official packs I figured there would be little problem in downloading them from Steam and installing them.

I'm using Mod Organizer to run everything. So far, I've had good luck running some fairly complex mods (Frostfall, Requiem). But whenever I activate the hi-res packs in the 'Archives' section of MO, I get either a CTD or an obvious visual error, such as the sky being the wrong color, or the water being replaced with a flat, bright yellow color, or the purple textures on various things, or simply black/white/grey with no colors at all.

I'm at a loss here; I seem to meet the requirements for running these packs, but I just can't get the things to work.

I've already posted this question in the Skyrim Mods forum, but I wondered if anyone over here might have some ideas as to what the issue is.

Thanks!

Do you have sufficient RAM? Are you on a 64-bit version of Windows?
