Hey all!

I'm going to buy a new smartphone since my current phonecontract just expired. I was going to get one at a cheap price with a contract. The prices for the contract all vary between 35 and 55 euro's. Some will have extra features (a free tablet (samsung tab 3 7 inch), netflix, cashback action, samsung speakers). The only problem is that I don't know what smartphone to buy. I can go for: Xperia Z2 or Z3, a samsung galaxy S5 and a HTC One M8. I know nothing about smartphones. All I know is that the xperia's and the samsung are waterproof and dustproof...

That's about all I know.

Anyone any opinions? Thanks!!

A friend has a Xperia Z3 and I must say it is impressive. On those you listed I would certainly buy the Z3... if it didn't cost 1800 dollars here

If you have a PS4 and play it a lot, the Xperia is the only phone that you can actually do the 2nd-screen thing with games. You can get a PSN app for any android or apple phone, but the 2nd-screen is Sony phone thing only.

I have a PS4 now and wish I had the Xperia for that reason, but if you want the best video and sound quality, I probably would go with the HTC. Though if you want a better camera and imo smoother processing, than you should go with the Galaxy. I personally do not like iPhones and would never recommend them to anyone. The HTC is a bit newer than the S5 though, so I think it would be more future-proof than the S5 (but not by much). Samsung will probably come out with the "S6" in a couple of months.

They break it down to almost every facet of the phone, from screen size, processor power, camera quality, etc.

Now I have an S4, which is similar to the S5 and I can tell you one thing that is annoying is that the loud speaker is on the back of the case so if you want sound directed at you while watching Netflix or whatever, you kind of need to cup your hand to direct sound around or use headphones. HTC phones have TWO speakers on the front and the sound quality is better. The only reason I went with an S4 was because it was free with my upgrade (S5 would have been like $200, and the HTC M8 would have been $100). Overall I think it does everything well, but some things other phones do better but not always. Kind of the perfect middle of the road phone, and I assume the S5 is right there.

One thing that is pretty cool with the HTC is that it has an aluminum case, much more resistant to damage.

If I had a choice between those 3 phones and money was no issue, I would go with the Xperia because I have a PS4. Though honestly, I think whatever phone you get you'll be happy with.
