How can I make darker nights?

Post » Wed Dec 17, 2014 10:40 pm

Hello everybody, I have been using a few lighting mods but now I want to create my own one and the only thing I need to find out is how to make nights darker with creation kit. Could someone help me please?

First thing to do is get one of the mods that already make the nights darker (most lighting mods do this) and see how they did it.

Or, even better, once you figure out how someone else did it, modify that mod to your own liking. No problem to do this for your own use, just don't publish a mod you reworked unless you gain permission from the original author.

However, essentially, your going to be modifying the global light levels/light quality for the world space or the cells you are in. It's not hard to actually make the modifications, its making them look right that is the trick.

And, please, calibrate your monitor before you make the mod. Most monitors are in Torch Mode (100% brightness even with gaming settings) and hence most lighting mods make things to dark to compensate. Your target is 50% brightness, or so, and about 60 to 80% contrast with Black Levels, if offered, tweaked accordingly. Then make the mod once you have a calibrated monitor.
