trying to remember the name of this one film (as it came up in a conversation recently but I could not remember its name)

it was based on a true Story (at least, I think it was), took place in a small Mining town and was about a bunch of Highschool Kids who began launching home-made rockets.. the main characters father (who worked in the Mines) Did not approve and that was a source of conflict throughout the film..
