Morrowind Quest Breakers

Post » Fri Dec 19, 2014 6:20 am

I was doing the main quest just the other day and had issues. Let me begin by saying these are all fine mods, good enough for me to take the time to fix them so they remain in load order so this is not a gripe on them. One of them is a mod I made so I share some of the burden.

I'm also not sure if these have been patched or fixed already. Or perhaps they say that the main quest should be completed before installing. Or even it could be something on my end.

The main goal here is to save people time when things don't play out as they should. With my familiarity in the C.S it was only a couple of hours to track these issues.

Files that break Nerevarine quest. (deleted topic "Nerevarine")

- LGNPC Ald-ruhn
- MW Public library
- Caldera Home at Last
- LGNPC Pelagiad 1.31
- LGNPC Vivec FQ 2.20

- Ashland Yurt 1.1

Files that break "accompany me" script on Ashlander wise woman in ~

- Norn Full

I fixed this by opening each of these mods in Enchanted Editor and deleting the "Nereverine" dialog and with Norn Full deleting the "accompany me" dialog reference.

The main quest then ran fine and I was able to become the Nerevarine.

Whether or not these topics are actually deleted or they are just altered, the message recieved was that they were deleted. I got screenshots of the message given if needed but can't post pics here presently.

I'll fix Ashlander Yurt sometime in the future, just avoid for the time being until a version 1.2 is released.

Got some screens I took with a camera of the errors.

Strange as I run the LGNPC mods and it did not have an issue with the MQ. I even merged them all together into one mod. I typically speed run the MQ on each character in about 2 to 2 1/2 hours just to get it out of the way.

I have not used the other mods in question.

Did you merge your leveled lists?

Also, if you merge your dialogs all kinds of nasty things can happen.

I agree it is strange, I know I didn't delete "nerevarine" topic in Ashland Yurt 1.1, I added some dialog to it though. I put up some screens of the error message and like I said in into, I'm not sure what the issue is exactly.

What I'll take from this is not to touch the Nerevarine topic. Also, I had the mods running for months with no warnings. The warnings only became apparent when the quest and that specific section was in play on reload.

Strange stuff. But could be frustrating/game breaking if you cannot use the C.S to fix it.

I run Wrye Mash for leveled lists and do not merge dialog. Each mod is artist original presentation except for Caldera Home at last which I moved to Vivec for better compatability.

To clarify, I discovered the issue when the word "Nerevarine" did not show up as blue and a hot topic. Not knowing what was up, I thought I missed a key dialog opportunity so ran around trying to get it to appear highlighted. this did not work so I gave up. Next load on another day those messages appeared.

The "accompany me" issue was a bit more difficult as no warning showed up. I just went through my mod list and looked in suspect mods for the dialog alteration eventually finding Norn Full as the culprit. After cleaning that dialog entry I could escort the wise woman to the Daedric Ruin up north of the Ahemmusa Camp.

Perhaps the error showed on initial installation and I went the "yes to all" option and the error does say "if you save the message will not appear again".

The LGNPC mods are excellent and I still have them in load order. Hopefully cleaning this dialog will have no ill effect on them. I fixed this yesterday so time will have to be the tester as I progress longer into the game.

Good to know, as I use a few of those mods. I'll have to schedule myself a new character to go through the main quest and test it. I'm supposed to have another mod that changes the Nerevarine topic requirements, so maybe I involuntarily dodged that bullet.
