Avatar (The Series) Discussion Thread

Well, now that The Legend of Korra is officially over and we'll likely never see another new Avatar episode again due to how production and reception for the show's last few seasons absolutely tanked, I figured it was only proper to create a general discussion thread for the entire Avatar series.

It really is too bad that the last few seasons became so ridiculous, because they did have some truly good elements. The use of deus ex machina went absolutely off the charts, though, which is especially ironic considering that The Last Airbender really only used it to avoid having a character killed on screen, while The Legend of Korra seemed to have no problem with killing off its characters (in sometimes, unintentionally hilarious ways - see:

Asami's father
).

The mecha-giant's destruction also royally pissed me off (in addition to a number of other things). The power source for the giant should have had the destructive capacity of a magically-fueled nuclear bomb in comparison to the capsules Kuvira was using for its arm cannon, yet Mako detonating it only caused enough of an explosion to conveniently destroy the mech without causing any collateral damage.

And I suppose there should be an obligatory

Korrasami
reference here. It was undeniably a nice moment, and was one of the few bright spots of the season. It is indeed a shame that it capped off such a poor run for the series.

I didn't like first episodes of Korra so never watched it. But legend of Aang is awesome. Great elements.
