Back to Oblivion from Skyrim?

Post » Sat Dec 27, 2014 8:54 pm

Played Oblivion from the first month it was out. "Graduated" to Skyrim when it first came out and am still happily playing the latter.

Have any of you gone back to replay Oblivion? Interested in your viewpoint re gameplay, less wonderful graphics, etc.

A lot of us regulars never really left Cyrodiil, myself included. I can still remember the moment on 11/11/11 when I exited Skyrim's beginning dungeon, and I thought "I love Skyrim, Skyrim is amazing in many ways, but I still want to return to Cyrodiil". So I never really stopped playing Oblivion. :tes:

To me, Oblivion's graphics are fine. I don't see them as 'lesser', I see them as different.

And so far as gameplay goes, that's one of the reasons I still love Oblivion (while also loving Skyrim), the gameplay is similar between both games in many ways, but both games also have plenty of variances. They've got completely different approaches and philosophies with many things. Makes each game feel more unique.

I played Skyrim until April, when I began playing Oblivion again. I tend to cycle through the games: Oblivion...Morrowind...Fallout 3...Skyrim...then back to Oblivion again. I've been in Fallout 3 since early October, but I'll be back in Cyrodiil again very soon.

I'm constantly cycling between these games, like daily. I just started Skyrim on PC finally, so I'll be mixing modded Skyrim in too!

I've been known to swap games even during the same evening, assuming I have many hours to kill. I've started with vanilla Skyrim, switched to modded Oblivion, and then switched to TES 1: Arena, all in the same gaming session. Something about going from top-notch graphics & animations to the crudest of the crude gets me smiling.

Thanks for comments. Patriarch: I have never played Fallout (1,2, or 3). You are an FPS/RPG fan, so maybe I should check it out. Happy New Year!
