New laptop issues with running Fallout 3

Post » Mon Dec 29, 2014 8:02 am

Hey guys, I've been running into tons of problems after I decided to revisit the Fallout series. I've played it before on my old laptop which ran Windows 8 as well; however, with my new laptop, I would just get tons of crashes.

I have an Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.4Ghz (Turbo 3.4 GHz) Quad-core Processor and 16 GB of RAM as well as a GeForce GTX 870M Graphics card

Yes I have; I've also tried uninstall and installing several times. It worked fine the first time I downloaded it. I've got to the part where I left Vault 101 before closing the game. A day passed and I've downloaded several mods onto the game using FOMM and after that, the game kept crashing on me. I've already uninstalled FOMM and the mods so I'm still not sure what's causing the problem.

Did you start a brand new game after you removed the mods, or are you going from a previous save? Sometimes changes made by a mod are stored in your saved game and not fully removed even though the mod is gone. The only way to know for sure whether it was a mod that was causing the problem is to start from scratch again. Another thing you might want to try is installing some third party codecs. Two options available are K-Lite or Sharky's.
