AMD 2.81 ghz 6 core processor

8 gig of ram

1tb hardrive

Nvidia GTX560 ( 1gb )

i think i just need a mew graphics card if i was to buy a GTX 970 in there would that fix the skyrim problem or do i need to also change something else ??

thanks guys

The 4GB dedicated VRAM would be an improvement for the textures. It would likely improve the ENB framerates as well. What ENB are you using?

Most ENBs will intorduce some kind of a FPS hit.

That's difficult to say. It could be ENB related, it could be system related as well.

There is a possibility to have conflicting mods, bad ini tweaks or messed up load order.

This can also happen if you remove a mod or add/remove ESP files and then load up a save that was previously using it.

You could try loading an earlier save just to be sure there's nothing wrong with your save.

If you thing you computer worked OK, before you added the ENB, or any other texture enhancing mod, then obviously your GPU has reached his limits.

See on that link you posted under performance issues.

-----------------------

Also you should check this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23812/?tab=4&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D23812%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D777990&pUp=1

Verify that you have configured the enblocal.ini correctly for your system.

Installing an enb, can have consequences on weaker GPUs.

However there are textures mods for weaker computer as well. !!!

The thing is, you should read the authors page, and install your texture mod the right way.

A graphics card is a GPU. You're probably thinking of the CPU (Central Processing Unit). If you feel you can afford a new video card, by all means do so. That 560 is getting a bit old by now. Not sure if it will help your ENB problem, since as mentioned there could be something else causing the lag. But you'd still be better off with something better.

970 is vastly superior to the 560. You would have to make sure your system can accomodate this new card however.

I would be suprised if you didn't get better Frame-rates. Exactly what kind of Frame rates you will get is impossible to say.

You can get an idea perhaps by looking at what others get with that card + the ENB you are interested in.

As stated, there could be other potential problems here as well. If you have money to burn, then id say go for it.

If this is just for Skyrim and you have limited funds, I might try to get the current Skyrim running better first.

FOr instance, what happens without the ENB. What kind of Frame rates are you getting exactly. Monitor it with FRAPS. Google it.

Install that program and run it before starting Skyrim. It's a good indication of performance in games and essential if you are TS'ing performance issues.

ALthough ENBS do come with a Frame rate indicator now i guess. It's still a good program to have as it can be used with any game you have.

Yep, that's a good point to start. If you computer works without a CTD, then either way something is wrong with your ENB , or the GPU can't keep up.

However, you could try some less heavier ENBs, with your computer configuration, for instance this : http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15425/?

----------

btw, what's your processor ??? A AMD Phenom II X6 ???

Also you need to see, if your PSU can keep up with a GTX 970. (Wattage, free PCIE connectors)

Actually a 500 watt PSU with two PCIE 6 pin connectors should do the trick.

The Length is approx. 10.5" and it's a dual slot GPU. (It occupies two slot spaces)
