Fallout New Vegas Shower Thoughts

A Shower Thought being some oddity with the game that occured to you randomly.

As a starting example and one I just had...?

Mr. House, the genius responsible for robotics and the only human smart enough to achieve longevity exceeding 200 years (without resorting to mutations) while single-handedly saving much of Las Vegas from atomic bombs, will offer to pay you 1,000 caps for an object pivotal in allowing him to control the region and - in his own words - save humanity (the Platinum Chip), but will offer 2,000 caps for a common snowglobe.

And here I thought this thread was about how to get clean in the Mojave....

If you don't want someone to realize the true value of something then don't offer them what it is worth. If he had offered me 1,000,000 caps, then I would think that someone else would offer me more than that for it. If he is offering me pocket change, then the item is only worth the deliver fee to me.

Still, it's rather...bold, no?

He'll offer you 2k for the snowglobe at the same moment he'll offer 1k for the chip. I can understand if we're talking about a chip worth millions (and it damned well is) and he offers only 10,000, but offering less than a finder's fee for a snowglobe seems pretty odd. :P

It's because the Snow Globes are AWESOME! :disguise:

Seriously, if Bethesda sold them I would have every one.

I was expecting discussion of a NV-themed wedding shower, honestly...

I've been tinkering with a homebrew balance overhaul mod, so most of my "shower thoughts" have been along the lines of:

OK, so if power armor is supposed to render the wearer nearly invulnerable to small arms fire and the base damage of most non-AMR firearms ranges from 20-40, then power armor (including helmet) should grant somewhere in the range of 25-35 DT. That would put non-power heavy armor at...

...etc., etc., etc. Not the most interesting topics of discussion, perhaps, but they are what they are.

Another shower thought I'd had was....

Hypothetically, if the Legion were to encounter D.C. and attempt to conquer it, they would be incapable of doing so due to radiation alone. As the Legion consumes no chems or medicine, they have no access to RadAway and would thus die off. Ironically, the Legion would not seek to conquer D.C. and would deem it a hell hole. On the contrary, the Legion would attempt to quarentine the area, mark it as off-limits and likely wish to discourage trade with that region. So in case of a Legion hostile takeover of the United States, D.C. of all places with it's eternal irradiated glow would be one of the safest places to be for an enemy of the Legion.

Snow globes are the cat's meow, ...sorry for the pun Grendal.

You can shake them and make it snow all the time,... 2000 caps for a snowglobe? well, I don't know, ...how about 2500? and about that Platinum Chip?, yeah, only 1000 caps for control of an upgraded robotic army and control of New Vegas? You really aren't firing on all cylinders are you? How about I give you Nephi's Driver instead?

hmm, im afraid most of my shower thoughts in FONV are character planning. Things like, "What would she do in this situation? Wait no, my other Courier would do that," and technical things like, "Okay, 13 skill points for the first 3 levels then 15 after Educated at level 4 and I need 70 Repair to get Hand Loader so that works out to..."

The Legion soldiers do have campfire-prepared healing items on them (healing powder, bitter drink, and antivenom; maybe more that I can't remember offhand), so I'd wager that fiery purgative would be kosher for them (assuming the alcohol in the vodka is boiled off during preparation; that's the rationale I use on my straightedge character, at least). Not that I think that'd make them any more likely to spend much time or manpower on the Capitol Wasteland, but it would make clearing it or dismantling it for building materials feasible.
