Immersive Quests Writing Position

Post » Sat Jan 10, 2015 12:22 pm

http://www.darkcreations.org/forums/forum/795-immersive-quests/ is currently looking for one more writer. This will be open for a few days so applications can come in.

What it would entail:

As a writer, you would manage both quest writing and editing, as well as dialogue writing and editing. Sometimes, there will also be book writing necessary.

Quest writing could be designing an idea from scratch, as well as the characters, entire plot, and journal entries. You may also take a submitted idea from a user, and edit it to fit IQ's ideals and your personal take on the quest. You will more than likely have some criticisms or suggestions for your ideas, and you should be able to take these well, though you don't always have to change your quest if you don't like a suggestion.

Dialogue writing entails writing all dialogue for your quest, for each character. It must be done in the proper format (which will be shown to you upon joining the team) as well.

Books are less frequent but notes/journals/books may need to be written as well.

Requirements to apply:

- A good handle on the English language (preferably American-English, though British-English is alright as well - you will need to write in the American fashion, however). This includes spelling, grammar, and vocabulary. It should not be required that everything you write must be looked over by another - small typos are fine every once in a while, but it shouldn't be a regular thing because you aren't good with English. It's okay if it's not your first language as long as you can write well in it.

- The ability to take criticism well (don't worry - you won't be horribly criticized or anything like that! Just the ability to take suggestions well)

- The ability to work well with a team

- A decent amount of freetime. As modders, it's a hobby, so some of us have jobs and such. That's perfectly fine. But it shouldn't be something that you can barely get to - like half an hour a day. I respect that you're trying to write with that little time but it wouldn't be good for the project.

- The ability to write natural and understandable dialogue

- Creativity. I'm sure you all have it! :P

Applying:

Please email me at Matthiaswagg@gmail.com or PM me by that name on the Nexus, Dark Creations, or Bethesda Softworks Forums with a sample.

A sample should be:

A summary (including gender, race, and approx age) of a character you've made, including short info on personality and backstory.

Then, create 10 lines of dialogue for this NPC. Not just "hellos" and "goodbyes" and such. An actual conversation the PC might have with this character. Then share or send a link to view this Google doc to me.

I'll give this a shot! Been itching for some new writing ideas lately. Just to clarify, character summary in the email itself, and sample dialogue in a Google doc, correct? Don't want my first "audition" to be a screw up on my part ha.
