Supreme Magicka or LAME first? Knowledgeable guidance sought

Hello and thanks for reading.

First, I know there's already been a decent amount written on this subject and I've ready a good percentage of it. But as I'm contemplating going with a pure mage character in a game that includes OOO and some other mods that increase difficulty, I'm struggling to identify a best choice for dominant magic mod.

I currently have both installed with LAME dominant (loaded last). It's worked okay for my current character, who is a hybrid with just a few magic skills. One of the things that got me thinking about this is that LAME has absorb magic as a restoration skill (which I believe is true of vanilla), but I prefer how it was previously (Morrowind, etc.), which is as a mysticism skill. It gives mysticism value when otherwise I'm concerned it is essentially a throwaway skill, even for a pure mage.

Supreme Magicka restores absorb to mysticism. It also offers cool features like enabling telekinesis (more mysticism) to push/pull foes, Jedi style, in addition to moving objects. I like the sound of that. And if SM makes other similarly smart choices, perhaps it deserves the dominant slot in my mod load order.

SM is also more configurable via the .ini file. I don't have enough experience to mess with that currently, but it's reassuring to know that I could tweak things to my liking down the road.

I also know that LAME has some great features, one of which is longer durations. I really appreciate that summons and other spells stick around some. Many spells become near useless with durations of ten seconds or less. It's also a pain to keep conjuring over and over again, for example, though this may hurt skill advancement if it depends on the number of times cast.

So, if you have experience with both or either, please let me know your thoughts on which works well/better and offers a well-balanced solution for a challenging game.

Thanks!

- ELB
