Your tactical options are either sneak or full frontal attack...with your companions running around like maniacs to either get knocked unconscious or dead, and rarely coming out victorious.

In Fallout TACTICS, one of my favorite things was being able to set my companions up in crossfire situations, deadly to enemies, and fairly safe for companions.

In real life history, crossfire was/is particulary effective in combat.
