I have recently playing much of the Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and i thought about many ideas while playing, i will dedicate this forum post to my ideas. Whatever they will call the next elder scrolls game( weather it'll be ES6 or ES7 IDK). One of my ideas is a layered merchant system. Seeing as there are traveling merchants like the caravans i think it would be cool to have something such as they did with Hearth-fire dlc, having to gather materials/pay to get a upgrade on your shop. with every upgrade more money is generated.
starting out as a traveling merchant ( in a tent or maybe just sitting down), and hiring somebody for a weekly pay to man the tent so you can adventure while generating revenue, traveling to different cities. Having to get permission from the leader of the city some how, then upgrading to a stand in a major city of your choice. after a stand there would be a building generating exponentially more money.
Of coarse you would have to supply the things to sell giving use to those items you been hoarding (don't lie to yourself you know you don't use them). if you say why not just go around selling to the many merchants around, i say because this would provide a more immersive experience, and make it feel more like you have many options and different deviations of the main story.
