Is it even worth taking for a battle mage if I was to use conjuration (summons) and alteration (flesh spells, paralyze, magic resistance). Does it become a problem always casting it and not being able to uuse spells like 1 handed?

I've your going to be casting a bunch of other spells during combat, it can get a bit annoying to constantly recast the spell, but I've had a lot of fun with bound battleaxe.

Heavy Armor
One Handed
Alteration
Conjuration
Enchanting

I was thinking smiting but really, could a battle mage be a master Smith?

I think a battle mage would use Destruction as his primary source of damage (lore-wise), otherwise the class would be a spellsword.
