Something that drives me nuts is being innacurate in combat, whether its a follower jumping in front of me as I try to use a power attacking battle axe or missing a wolf with an arrow because I've got bad aim with a bow. What do you guys think are the most reliable forms of attack where you're not hitting your followers and can easily hit what your aiming at?
Here's what I think:
Archery: At first, in combat situations (not sneak mode) archery is quite difficult and I miss a lot of moving targets, but once I get the slow-motion, zooming in, and ranger perks I tend to be 100% better at it and can precisely pick out enemies in a group. this is why archery is a great skill tree- because you actually feel like you get better at it as you add more perks.
Melee: Of course two-handed weapons are harder to control because they are slower. But even daggers at times are not reliable for me in this situation: I enter White-Run and the first vampire with the death hounds is attacking. all the guards and everyone standing there gets involved. Even when I have a clean shot with a dagger it is inevitable that I will hit a guard and he will start attacking me. Not even sure how it happens. In that situation, a high level bow user is much better. There aren't any perks to increase the precision of melee combat.
Runes: Although runes have an area of effect, they can be quite precise: They hit instantly, and you can aim them directly under the enemy. If you miss the, the rune is still there and you haven't wasted it. I like runes.
Destruction spells: Adept level spells are obviously not good around followers, but they are good if just facing enemies and you have bad aim. It is most likely that I accidentally kill my followers with destruction spells when compared to other forms of attack. Its probably mostly from Ice-storm too.
Other Spells: There's been too many times where I've tried to hit an enemy with a paralysis or fear spell and completely miss. And I've just wasted a ton of magicka. Those spells can drive me nuts.
Shouts: A lot of these are messy, and if you hit a follower, can have disastrous (yet hilarious) effects.
