Frostbite spiders look fluffy and soft.

Chaurus look cold and hard and smooth.

Obviously you would choose to pet something fluffy and soft.

No-Brainer.

Spider: an unfortunate incident with a chaurus and a fireball in the Morthal swamps resulted in the only time I ever killed a poor, cute, cuddly little fox, so the insects are KOS.

If by "pet" you mean smash with a mace repeatedly until they stop moving then I'd say chaurus as they bug me out more *badump psh*

If these creatures were real then a giant spider would be the stuff of nightmares and more terrifying to me then anything else from Skyrim.

Chaurus, in part because I have no idea how to pronounce their damned names.

It could be, I've never heard any NPC speak of them so I'm not sure what it's supposed to be.

Giant Spider. They're fluffy and cute.

Chaurus make creepy noises, scare babies, and are immortal.

Yeah, I could have sworn this is how you pronounce it as an NPC in-game did so (but it was more like Cow-rus). Maybe i'm just imagining things?

I always thought it was said like Chore-Us, mainly because it's similar to how you say Baurus (guy from Oblivion). Anyway I'd probably pet the Chaurus because I hate spiders!

I don't understand your poll question so I will refrain from voting in it, but as for your posted inquiry the spiders are fine unless you personally suffer from arachnophobia while the Chaurus are a true abomination. I physically get shivers down my spine when confronted by them. They remind me so much of earwigs which I also hate passionately.

I am probably wrong but I have been pronouncing their name as Char-us.
