My setup: Is it safe to increase the amount of grids loaded?

Here's my rig:

Operating System
Windows 8.1 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i7-4770K @ 3.50GHz
RAM
16,00Gt Dual-Channel DDR3
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z87-PRO
Graphics
BenQ xl2411t (1920x1080@144Hz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti
Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device
Case
Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl

I'm planning to increase the amount of grids loaded over the default value of 5. I know it's not possible to revert back or lower the amount without starting a new game. I think I could try 7 and maybe go as high as 10. I don't want any performance issues or more crashes.

Given that many New Vegas' settings can safely be increased over the default maximum it can be sensible to also edit grids loaded and make the game look better in the process :)
