4E 56

The sudden passing of the King of all Dreugh, Khoss of Koal, in 4E 55 was said to have a great shock to the general populace of Nuxacses, but close members of his Council had known of the King's poor health for some time. The blasphemous incident with the God, Shagrat the Clever two years prior had clearly taken it's toll on the leader of Nu Cephalite, with bouts of madness sadly becoming accepted as the norm (witness his undressing in the presence of the Firestone, or the inceneration of his pet guar).

Below is a transcript from the King's private notes (trusted to me by his Queen, Uisha of Gnaar Mok) that was to be sent to the Redoran capital of Blacklight, before his advisors rightfully intervened:

All Grey-Skinned Devils, hear my words.

You follow the false teachings of Azura, Boethiah and Mephala.

Each day, you failed to recognise the Firestone's true greatness.

Many others followed down the same path, and they will pay the price.

Surely you were wise enough to see your mistakes.

Each day, you failed to recognise Xacses' true greatness.

House Indoril cried when you tried to convict a God.

The Trial of Vehk was a failure.

Vvardenfell now weeps at it's centre.

Each day, you failed to recognise Vivec's true greatness.

How we laugh at your ineptitude.

Know that the Spears of Koal are coming for you.

Had this letter been sent, one of two situations, (or perhaps even both), could have happened:

1) House Redoran could have dismissed the Dreugh-King's threats as the ramblings of an old mad Dreugh,

or

2) House Redoran could have called the Dreugh-King's bluff, sacked Nuxacses, and reclaim the Grey Ones former capital from the Cephalo.

Thankfully, Xacses gave the Council the wisdom to prevent these hypothetical situations.

What concerns Queen Uisha (May The Firestone Let Her Live Until The End Of Days) the most about her late King's letter is the praise of the Old Triune, and more troubling, Vivec (forever curse hir name).

The Warrior-Poet was slain on Khoss' orders in 4E 10, after being held prisoner in the ruins of hir former city for five years. Khoss' hatred for the former God of the Grey Ones was not a secret; in fact, it is a sentiment shared by all Dreugh.

One could easily dismiss it as further evidence of Khoss' ever growing madness (as many have), but the Queen has ordered the Priests of Xacses to cleanse the Coral Palace of any hidden traces of Vivec, lest hir spirit still lingers, waiting to curse hir next victim.
