Burning an effigy at a bonfire has always had the effect of preventing summoning and invasions for a time (about 30 mins.)

Now when you kill a boss, you instantly can no longer co-op in that area by default (like DkS1.)

But you can burn an effigy at the bonfire to nullify that limitation. Or as you probably noticed, you can wait in that area until the counter reaches zero.

Also, a little symbol appears under your health bar to show the area is off limits for online. It's a silver blob with a red line through it.

They are all there for the grabbing :smile:
