[RELz] Oblivion Content Restoration Project

Post » Sat Feb 07, 2015 12:25 pm

So this is the fruit of about a month of work on my part.

DESCRIPTION:

In the process of making Oblivion, some content fell through the cracks; some was cut, some was abandoned, and some is simply inaccessible. This mod attempts to restore as much as possible in a way that blends as seamlessly as possible into the vanilla game -- almost as if it had been there all along.

A complete list follows:

Armor, Weapons, and Items
? Potions now use differently-colored bottles, depending on the school of magic of its effects: Restoration potions are blue, Alteration potions are a pearly white, Mysticism potions are purple, and Illusion potions are bright green. Destruction potions are red and Conjuration potions are yellow, but there are no potions with effects from these schools in the default game and hence they remain unused.
? During the tutorial, Renault’s and Glenroy’s armor may be collected from their corpses and worn. However, Baurus will confiscate it from you just as he takes back their swords.
? Imperial Palace armor (the white-and-gold armor Legion captains wear) is now playable, as it had unused inventory icons and ground models.
? The Emperor’s robe and shoes are now sitting out in Martin’s quarters in Cloud Ruler Temple. They may be freely taken by a member of the Blades.
? Leather armor uses the meshes originally intended for it, matching the leather shield. The old leather armor is available as “thief” armor, which is worn by shady NPCs and can be randomly bought from Thieves Guild fences once you reach level 5. A copy of the Gray Fox’s version of the Boots of the Olympian and Weaponward Cuirass can be found in the Guildmaster’s Quarters after the Thieves Guild questline is complete.
? The obscure text “Hiding with the Shadow” has been moved from Lake Arrius Caverns to Fathis Aren’s laboratory. “The Arrow of Extrication” was the only one of the later Thieves Guild quests without some paraphernalia related to the mystery of the Gray Fox and his cowl.
? Mythic Dawn and Black Hand robes now cover the hands but not the feet, as many NPCs who wore these robes had shoes in their inventories.
? Tilse Arelith at Common Treasures now sells Purple and Light Green regalia and the alternate versions of the scruffy pants, shirt, and shoes.
? Added many clothes that were very scarce in vanilla (the Blue Silk Shirt or the Forester’s Shirt, for example) to the leveled lists so that they will be used to populate containers and clothe NPCs. To allow the lower and middle class items to be purchased, a single instance of ChestVendorClothesMiddle01 has been added to Nord Winds, and a single instance of ChestVendorClothesMiddle02 has been added to Divine Elegance. The black robe and hood will now be valued at one gold piece each in order to allow the player to purchase them (the value of these items will not be set if the black robe has a value; i.e., if another mod has already done this).
? Base, normal, and Grand Rings of Health, Fatigue, and Magicka have been added to the generic enchanted items lists used as loot and to fill NPC inventories.

NPCs
? Mannimarco now wears the King of Worms’ hood.
? Placed Curtis, a Redguard commoner, into the game. He lives in the All Saints Inn (because the Imperial City is so tightly packed, there was no room for a new house) and his key unlocks his room door. He spends a lot of time in the Temple of the One and occasionally takes trips to Cheydinhal.
? Placed Lurio Maenius, an Imperial commoner, into the game. He lives with Matthias Draconis and follows his similarly-unemployed housemate Collatinus Vedius’ schedule.
? Placed Oleed-Ei, an Argonian assassin, into the game. As a Blackwood Company Member, he stays in their hall at all times.
? Hides-His-Heart now dwells in the basemant of the Oak and Crosier before “The Assassinated Man,” where his pre-quest NQDChorrol dialogue can be heard. Similarly to Motierre, killing him before the quest will cause the quest to fail as soon as you get it.
? Placed Homraz gra-Morgrump and Wallace into the game. They’re Hides-His-Heart’s thugs and they’ll assist him during “The Assassinated Man.”
? Delmar now offers barter services, selling scrolls and soul gems.
? Roland Jenseric now lives in his house in the Temple District prior to “Order of the Virtuous Blood,” allowing him to use his NQDImperialCity greeting and ImperialCityTopic.
? Jearl is enabled prior to "Spies," allowing her to use her NQDBruma greeting and BrumaTopic. Like other sleeper agents, she might attack you after "Dagon Shrine." Her "guest," Saveri Faram, will not appear until "Spies" begins, and if Jearl is already dead when she would normally be enabled, the quest will immediately update.
? J'ghasta is now enabled prior to "Broken Vows;" if he is already dead when the quest begins, it will immediately update. Also restored his NQDBruma greeting, for which the audio was present but no info existed.
? Grey-Throat's and Gilen Norvalo's MS23 greetings no longer block conversation with them prior to stage 10, allowing Grey-Throat's NQDImperialCity greeting and "Imperial City" topic to be used (provided you're willing to break into Seridur's basemant). Gilen had no equivalent lines, so appropriate audio has been created for him.
? Faelian and Atraena are now enabled from the start of the game, allowing them both to use their pre-quest dialogue.
? Ri’zakar now wanders the Blackwood Company Hall prior to “Infiltration,” allowing him to use his NQDLeyawiin greeting and LeyawiinTopic.
? Placed the Juggler in Sheogorath’s throne room; she will appear once “The Prince of Madness” is completed. As her name implies, she stands there and juggles. Changed her to an Imperial to match the other courtiers as opposed to being a VampireRace.
? All Bandit and Marauder mages now use their particular birthsign rather than the generic NPC mage birthsign. The effect of this is that they are marginally less competent casters, having a bonus of 25 magicka rather than 50.
? If you have Knights of the Nine, Sir Roderic and Lathon will be enabled prior to beginning your pilgrimage, allowing them both to use their pre-quest dialogue.

Creatures
? Imps now resist 50% of all magic cast at them.
? Boars now resist 25% of all magic cast at them, though to compensate they are no longer especially resistant to frost.
? Restored the shaders for Ancient Ghosts, Frost Atronachs, and Skeleton Guardians, Heroes, and Champions.
? The Skeleton Guardian summon is now an archer, as the magic effect icon implied.

Character Creation
? The Quick Knot hairstyle is now available to choose during character creation, and Khajiit may choose the Earrings and Wisps styles, as well.

Quests
? Henantier can be slain in his sleep as a "valid" alternative to completing "Through a Nightmare, Darkly." If you do this, Kud-Ei will not attack you, but once her Mages Guild quests are through, she will no longer speak to you.
? Restored the alternative path in MG01Destruct – Sulinus Vassinus can be paid to complete the quest for you.
? Cutter and Dumag gro-Bonk will refuse to forge Amber and Madness things for you until you reach level 8.
? Restored Jirolin Doran’s quest, MS17, christened “Distant Relations.”
? In "The Siren's Deception," male players can choose to fall for the siren's charms. Undressing and sheathing your weapon will have them attack you while your pants are down.
? In “Go Fish,” you can recover all the Rumare Slaughterfish scales before Aelwin asks. His reaction to your actions is slightly different than if you had received the quest from him.
? Completing “Information at a Price” will allow the player to start “Vampire Cure.”
? “Fingers of the Mountain” bay be pursued by non-Mages Guild members as long as your disposition with Earana is high enough.
? If you kill Ulrich Leland yourself during “Corruption and Conscience,” Garrus Darelliun won’t just express his disappointment – he’ll arrest you.
? Herminia Cinna’s Ayleid Crown may be stolen at any point, and Umbacano will accept it as soon as he mentions it.

Dialogue
? As Alval Uvani's NQDLeyawiin greeting and "Leyawiin" topic can never be heard, created a new Dark00GeneralNPC greeting for him that will be used the first time you speak to him, comprising all the lines.
? Hooking up Bittneld and Emfrid has been fleshed out with several unused lines for Emfrid.
? Copied over many NPC-specific greetings that could never be heard because they were always covered by higher-priority quest dialogue.
? Restored two dialogue options with Kud-Ei in “Through a Nightmare, Darkly.”
? Copied Raminus Polus’, Carahil’s, Teekeeus’, Falcar’s, Adrienne Berene’s, and Kud-Ei’s greetings into MG00Join so that they can be heard.
? Jhared Strongblade’s greeting no longer exits dialogue, allowing you to listen to his “Knights of the Thorn” topic.
? Restored one attack line for Golden Saints and Dark Seducers during “The End of Order.”
? Copied one of Seridur’s MS23 goodbyes to use as an attack line, as his greeting at that point in the quest was flagged as goodbye, so it could never be heard.
? Copied one of Kurdan gro-Dragol’s MS08 goodbyes to use as an attack line, as his greeting at that point in the quest was flagged as goodbye, so it could never be heard.
? Copied the dialogue from MG09BattleCry into an attack line, as nothing ever caused MG09BattleCry to be spoken.
? Merged Jauffre’s response to BaurusTopic into his response to the same topic in MQ00, as MQ02 shut down before his response could be heard.
? Restored one line of text for Graman gro-Marad in “An Unexpected Voyage.”
? Restored one line of text for Uriel Septim during the tutorial.
? NPCs will now react to stage four vampires, using the blocked-off hellos from Vampire.
? Restored two Skingrad rumors about Hal-Liurz, one Skingrad rumor about Falanu Hlaalu, and one Imperial City rumor and question about Areldil.
? Restored two lines of text for Velwyn Benirus in "Where Spirits Have Lease."
? Restored one line of text for Sinderion in "Seeking Your Roots."
? Restored one line of text for Fathis Ules in "Sins of the Father."
? Restored one line of text for Uungor in "Falling Awake."
? Restored some unused text for Maelona in "The Siren's Deception."
? Restored one line of text for Millona Umbranox in "The Ultimate Heist."
? Restored three lines of text for Ranarr-Jo in "Everything In Its Place."
? Restored one line of text for Modryn Oreyn in "The Killing Field."
? Created new "Chorrol" topic using unused audio, assigned it to Vilena Donton prior to MS18's completion.
? Bittneld may now use the “Creatures” topic in MS18, as audio was recorded for Nord males.
? Copied Mathieu Bellemont’s Attack lines into new PowerAttack lines in Dark18Mother, as his combat style only allowed power attacks.
? Copied an unused dialogue choice for Estelle Renoit into the “Jauffre” topic, so she can now direct you to where he is.

Locations
? Pursuant to MS17’s restoration, Rock Bottom Caverns is now populated by Rock Bottom ogres, and an abandoned Imperial fort tower, Spy Rock, has been added northwest of Chorrol.
? Placed the Nirn Stone, the final Heaven Stone, in the world. Its power, Nirn’s Breath, can be gotten by approaching the stone with a renown of at least 100. As for its location, well, that’s a secret.

REQUIREMENTS:

A working copy of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, Shivering Isles, the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch, and the Oblivion Script Extender.

INSTALLATION:

Place the contents of the .7z file in your "Data" folder, which is usually located under Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion.

The ReadMe document is not required for the mod to run -- you may keep it or discard it.

UNINSTALLATION:

Delete the included .esp file and all the files that came in the distribution archive.

UPDATING:

Replace all older files with newer versions. If in doubt, replace all mod files with the contents of the latest uploaded archive.

No in-game configuration is necessary.

BUGS:

As of yet, none.

COMPATIBILITY:

As this mod requires the Unofficial Patches, no fixes will be overwritten. However, there are a number of changes made to quests, dialogue, and NPCs. It would be best to use TES4Edit to find conflicts.

Thank you so much! When I originally asked about content restoration, I never expected someone to go through the game so thoroughly to bring all this back! I'm definitely adding this - it's a little incompatible with my Armor Underhaul, since I brought back the Pit Armor models separately and also made the Imperial Palace armor playable, but I can just put my mod under yours in the load order and be able to enjoy the rest.

I really appreciate everything you've done here (and elsewhere!).

Good release. How does it work with overhauls?

Return to IV - Oblivion
