Hi, (very) long time, no see. Shocked to actually see names I recognize on this board, seeing as its been like four years.

Thanks to some prodding by gep5, I have updated NifSE at long last to fix an outstanding bug in NiNodeCopyChild that prevented it from being used with skinned meshes (read: clothing, armor, etc). With v1.2, the function now copies over any necessary bones, and corrects the linkage in the copied child.
This is actually pretty exciting for me, because it means you can now use NifSE to create “virtual item slots” by merging items together. For example, this was tested with a beard mesh that took the amulet slot – with NifSE, that mesh can be merged with an actual amulet, which can be seen under the beard.
Anyway, there is currently no mod that uses this functionality (though I believe gep5 is working on one for tail-slot items), and this is officially a beta test anyway. If any modders are interested in this functionality, I would appreciate feedback and bug reports.
Feature requests are also welcome.
