My dad's missing

Best wishes to him. A stroke can be pretty serious. A couple of hours though? That's very, very long without anybody noticing.

Quick update:

Found him a few streets down, not sure if he's had a stroke; probably be going to ER tonight. We've found him though, thankfully.

It's a damn shame that he may be in a stroke, but at least they found him. I hope that he makes it out okay.

Good thing you found him, though obviously the stroke svcks.

My grandmother had a stroke and heartattack just aabout a week ago, and she's improving rather quickly for someone who's well over 80, hopefully your dad will be fine as well. Best wishes from me.

Thank you everyone for your concern and empathy. Everything seems to be relatively OK. Turns out it wasn't a stroke, thankfully, though I won't go into any further detail on what it was.

I'm sure he'll be home soon. Maybe he ran into an old friend or something and got caught up. I've done that plenty of times.

This reminds me of a story...

My oldest sister went to the Upper Peninsula this past spring and her phone had zero reception and the last thing we heard was her car broke down. We didn't hear for her for a good 3 days (The trip was supposed to be 2). It turned out that both phones had zero reception and they had to wait a day for their car to get fixed and instead of calling went camping anyways. We were going to call the police but she called first. She had some stories of how a tow truck driver (whom was missing half his teeth) and the tow truck drivers wife had come to pick them up. They had room for one in the cabin of the car so my sister went up front with them and my nephew did too, while my brother-in-law and two nieces, illegally, and highly unsafely, rode in the vehicle being towed. The whole time the tow truck drivers wife repeatedly told my sister she looked familiar and asked countless times where she may have seen her before. My sister had never been in that area before in her entire life by about a good 400 miles and she told this woman that yet she still asked her various questions about where she may have seen her before. Finally after a good 25 minute car ride to the auto repair place they were able to rent a car for a day until their car was fixed.

I dont think its illegal when it comes to being stranded in the middle of nowhere. But I dont know exactly where they were and the whole situation. Mabey you get a ticket/fine/write up but that can be fought in court. Its like a police officer pulling you over in the middle of nowhere, I aint gonna be pulled over in the middle of nowhere, its gotta be in a pretty public/populated place. There are those few exceptions. *shrugs* Who knows.

It svcks hearing bad news on the news. How much more on a forum that I frequently visit. Hopefully everything works out well.

Wow I was going to say Im sure he will be fine, then I read you found him and he may have had a stroke, not the best result. But hes fine, so its a pretty happy ending. Nice to see a happy ending to a story. Hope you guys are ok if there is any problem.

Glad he's found man. Although it ended in a cliffhanger not knowing what actually happened, but that's your call in the end.

Glad he's relatively alright. Hopefully the stroke (if indeed it was one) wasn't too serious and the he's able to return to normal service soon. One of my great aunts (I think!) had half a dozen or more strokes, and even after that was damn near fully functional. I'm not sure if she's still alive now (between the Italians and the Irish I just can't keep track of my extended family at all!), but if not then at least she saw well into her 80s, and it would have taken something more than a puny stroke to see her off.

My dad had a stroke once, a few years ago. It's very important to get treatment for it very quickly. However, if it turned out that it wasn't one, that's good. My dad's ok, but not completely back to his former shape. The doctors say he's much better than expected though, considering how serious it was.

I’m really glad he’s okay honey and I hope he gets better soon. I felt so sick and nervous reading your thread before you realised what had happened to him. :hugs:

I'm glad you found him, although I wish you'd at least give a hint as to what happened to him, seeing as people were genuinely concerned for you and your family.

Glad you found him, and glad it wasn't a stroke.
I get the same feeling when my parents done come home when they say they are. It's a scary feeling, not knowing if you'll ever see them again. But then again I'm a worry wort, and have been my entire life. I get it from my mother, who's 100x worse than I am.
Just last night for instance, my mom said she was going to the store to exchange something she bought for her birthday, the store is literally 5 minutes away in traffic. She was gone for 2 hours, and it was an extremely bad storm going on outside. The trees almost broke in half in our front yard, and our gutter even fell off because of how hard it was raining. I called her once after an hour and she didn't answer, I got pretty worried.
Turns out she was just being a woman and shopping.

It is illegal to ride in a vehicle being towed, even if it is in the middle of nowhere. It's not really the fact that it's illegal, it's highly unsafe. The tow truck driver should have called for somebody to pick up my brother-in-law.
