B-B-B-Benny At The Fort

Post » Wed Feb 11, 2015 6:13 am

I have an example of why I dislike limited quest journaling and over reliance on map markers: Trying to find http://youtu.be/_MQuHRCSQzQ?t=53s.

When I am in Copper Cove, the marker directs me to the raft. I click on the raft to travel to the Fort and the marker directs me to back to Copper Cove.

Now, on my way to Copper Cove, I... umm... kind of... ummm... became... "villified" with The Legion. I even got the 3 Rangers near Nelson wiped out when an Assassin Squad came after me  I do not know if this messed me up or not, but the Fort (except Caesar's Tent) is cleared of Legion Soldiers. (Veronica in full BoS Armor and her favorite Power Fist is AWESOME!)

My Quest inadequately says. "Get the chip from Benny at the Fort." Thanks for that fount of info. Now the map marker has me running in circles.

Did I mess this quest up and need to reload, even from before becoming Vilified? Do I need to chat with Caesar and his people? I did have the token (and quest) to meet with Caesar that "failed" when I became vilified. How screwed am I at my present point?

Spoiler
Benny is in Caesar's tent. You have to enter the tent and speak with Caesar.

Wasn't sure - just in case

It sounds like you took an interesting way to get that chip back!

You could reload from before or you could take the awesome route and kill everyone when you can.

EDIT

Also, on the map markers and quest dialogue. I'm pretty sure New Vegas isn't too hand-holdy about things and just states that Benny ran off to The Fort. At the same time, your crimes against the Legion are forgiven (if you had any) and your invited to The Fort to meet with Caesar. That meant, for me at least, that I would need to either kill the whole legion or bite the bullet and meet with the crazy dude. They tie in together pretty well.

Once you get that platinum chip from Sallow... it officially becomes OPEN SEASON for you against the sporting goods savages.

And... Damn you for planting that earworm in my head. :stare:

OK. I did enter the tent and was immediately killed. I did not even see if Benny was there :)

That map marker, though, never lead me to the tent and the quest dialogue was no help at all....

PS: Can I load Veronica up with chems? Will she use them? (Yes, I am looking at slaughtertent 5 :) )

 Sorry, your probably not mighty enough to handle them then.

Followers will not use chems unfortunately for you.

If you want to further yourself in this, I would say reload from before you ticked them off. It svcks. I hate doing it to but you made the bed.

If not, return way later when your a beast and have fun mulling down the tent.

I am level 23, I think. I just read that one option is to go in the tent then leave and they will follow me out. This gives me a chance to use mines

Yeah ceasar's guards are in close quarters with jacked up fist weapons, not a good combination. Though if you got explosives like a grenade launcher or something, just step in and start launching explosives in a straight line. When they get too close, run outside and take them out in the open.

If you go and reload and talk to caesar, he will just give you the platinum chip and you get to choose benny's fate (or help him escape). One of my favourites is getting him crucified. I was all fine and dandy working with Benny, but the [censored] still tries to betray you, and for that he deserves punishment.

I had one guy i was working with house, but i was also staying on the good side of everyone else until i had to. So i tried to deal with benny and he betrayed me (as the plan was we were both gonna work together and take out house until he betrayed me), so when i caught up to him in the fort, i got him crucified and left him there for about a week in game. Until i came back to finish of caesar and his army before the final battle, i killed everyone in the fort, except for benny crucified on his cross and left him there, to watch the explosions over the dam as i took over for him.

Also:

B-Benny!! B-Benny!! B-B-B-B-B-Benny at the fort!

Yes. Do NOT get into a melee fight with those Praetorians. Those ballistic fists they have will #$*@. You. Up. :bonk:

You could also go the NCR route if you don't want to backtrack as the Platinum Chip is irrelevant to that route.

It was awesome! I'll put it in spoilers, just in case

Spoiler
I had Veronica wait in the Arena. I laid bottlecap mines, frag mines, satchels, and c4 on the paths from the tent to the arena. Then, equipping my "thump thump(?)" grenade launcher, sneaked (snuck?) into the tent. I fired once , got hit, and had to try to get back to the "tent flap", since I got "pushed." Once outside, I stopped sneaking and ran off the cliff, then around and into to the arena. By the time I got the arena, I was down quite a bit of health. They all went after Veronica, though, which allowed me to use the new 12mm machine guns I picked up. Veronica went down (I thought dead at first) and only Caesar and I were left. He was so far down in health it took 2 shots from my Lever Action shotgun to finish him off.

Back inside the tent, I felt no remorse killing Benny, tied up and on his knees. What goes around, comes around. He did the same to me and deserves no better, in my opinion

The funny thing was after going back through the camp, doublechecking I got everyone (I missed 4 near the weather monitoring shack and 3 inside it), New Vegas Radio reported that Caesar was dead. How did he find out so fast?

Really, I am kind of confused about how to finish this up. I still need to get the Bangers their B-52, but am unsure of how they will use it. I can tell Yesman to ignore all factions (I think). Thugs and gangs are out, in my mind. Unsure about NCR, though they like me. The Followers I definitely want ignored. I wish I could have had Veronica take over the BoS, as she finally saw the light

More spoilers:

Spoiler
Talking with Mr. House, there are not a lot of options in the Weather Monitoring Station. Looks like I need to head back to the Lucky 38, if I can. Not sure if should talk to Yesman or Mr. House first.

The boomers will help out whoever you want them to help out in the final battle, they will basically help YOU out, whatever side you're on.

Yeah, with yes man you can get him to ignore any faction if you feel like it.

There is a way to get Veronica to stay with the brotherhood and she wants to change their ways (through dialogue, you obviously did the way that got her to leave, so that's out).

As for who to talk to, yes man or mr house. Well technically you can go all the way with house until the second last mission, and then kill him and side with yes man. Or you can just side with yes man. Whatever you want to do there, it's up to you.

Siding with House will have you as somewhat of an ally with NCR (though there is a thing you can do at the end of the game that requires 100 speech in order to have them submit to house, otherwise you gotta take out NCR - or at the very least, really piss them off). Yes man can have you side with NCR or not, again that's up to you. The Yes man ending is more of a free for all ending, you can basically choose who your allies are and arent.

Though for the yes man there is one unique team you can get to join you in the final battle that you cant get to join any of the other factions

Spoiler
If you get the team mate Arcade Gannon from the follower's outpost in freeside and do his side mission, you can get remnants of the Enclave to give you power armour, power armour training and get them to either join the NCR or the Legion in the final battle, but if you want to keep Arcade as a team mate you gotta get them to join the NCR. Keep in mind that these arent the same enclave from fallout 3, they are remnants from the fallout 2 enclave and MOST of them want to repent for their sins. You can only do this if you go the Yes man route though.

Hi ALBQ great to get an update on your progress. You really dislike the Legion don't you?

I love the laying mine idea. I'm a big explosive guys myself.

The last time I went into Caesar tent I had a mini nuke and targeted Caesar in vats the second I entered. It killed everyone even Benny.

Be careful when talking with YESman if you go too far it seals your fate on which side you will be fighting with at the dam.

Tread carefully when talking with any of the factions that wants the dam until you are ready to show your cards. Make sure you have your allies all lined up.

Thanks for the update looking forward to your next encounter.
