Dren Plantation and lag

Post » Mon Feb 16, 2015 9:13 am

Hey guys,

I'm experiencing a massive fps loss when I'm near or at Dren Plantation. While I'm not sure of the cause of these drops, could it be related to the hefty amount of slaves present at this location? I recall a discussion about "slaveScript", and it running checks far too often.

NPCs are one of the main fps killers.

Check out the Dren Plantation plugin in http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/36373/ by arvisrend. IIRC, there's a function called something like GetDeadCount which tanks performance when there's a large number of objects it needs to process.

High-Poly trees also, Vurt's trees are gorgeous, but they're graphically demanding.

GetDeadCount and GetDetected (each of these is an fps-killer) are both used in the script that is attached to every slave there and it is processed every frame. Devs wanted to make it happen only every few frames, but forgot to implement "return" calls inside if-timer structures.

A fix for this will be shipped in the new UMP once it is out.
