Unhandled exception while applying mods in MSGO options.

Post » Mon Feb 16, 2015 2:41 am

So after applying which mods I want in the Options phase of the MSGO installer, I get this error. I tried to continue, but the progress bar was not progressing so I quit the installer. I've tried running as administrator, running in windows xp compatibility, and I've taken the Morrowind directory out of program files.

I guess I can't post my screenshot, so I'll just type this out for you...

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click

Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If

you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Access to the path 'C:\Bethesda\Morrowind\Data

Files\meshes\f\Flora_BM_log_01.nif' is denied.

Btw I am using Morrowind Overhaul- Sound & Graphics 3.0

I noticed that the "BM" part of "Flora_BM_log" probably stands for Bloodmoon. So I unticked the trees for Solisthem and the progress bar made it farther, but stopped near the end with the same error with "Common_nordic_01" instead of Flora.

So my question is, how can I allow access for this program to any of my Morrowind files? I appreciate the help. Morrowind has been my favorite game since it's release, and I would really like to see some new graphics/bug fixes on it.

Welcome to the forum!

My guess is that the "meshes\f\Flora_BM_log_01.nif" file has a read-only attribute and you need to change that.

Just find the file and right click on it then select the properties and uncheck the 'R' box and click OK. That's about it if it's a read-only file.

Thanks a lot for the speedy responce! It worked for log_01 at least but went straight to log_02. So we're on the right track here :D . So is there a faster way to do this rather than going through every mesh and unticking the read-only box?

No not to my knowledge. Well you can uncheck the read-only attribute for more than one file by selecting them, but then you cannot see the information about the actual file.

So i can hit Ctrl+A to select them all and change their properties all at once? I'm trying that now.

Yes you can, but I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you know what you're doing.

I got errors from different meshs, so I went into the properties of the meshes folder itself and unticked read-only for all the contents of the folder and it worked! :bunny:

I have not seen this solution anywhere else, so hopefully this can help other people with the same issue. Thanks Leonardo, I would tip you if I could. Excellent service.
