Big Head dead, any way to do quest with console?

Post » Thu Feb 19, 2015 12:19 am

I recently got Oblivion on Steam and can now for the first time play shivering Isles, I used to have the game on xbox, a disc witthout the expansions.

When I entered Bliss there were NPC's running around in combat mode. I followed them and found my old pal from Morrowind, the Argonian Big Head, dead.

I resurrected him with the console and looked at the UESP and it says there is a quest associated with him. Unfortunately, probably because he died, he will not offer me the quest.

Is there any way I can use the console to still do this quest? It would be a fun little memento of Morrowind and I feel slightly annoyed that the quest is currently unavailable to me.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Reload and either:

1. Install the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch, or

2. Pickpocket Rendil Drarara's pewter fork.

Big Head's responsibility is low enough that he tries to steal it and gets killed for it.

Unfortunately I have been relying on autosave and quicksave and have no manual save that would not send me back to level 20. I am level 31 now.

So there is no way for me to do the quest now?

I'm hesitant to install any kind of unofficial patch. For Skyrim at least it "fixes" things I do not consider to be bugs and see as good gameplay mechanics, such as the vampirism - restoration perk synergy.

Oh gawd.

I mean, not to be passive-aggressive or anything, but if you want the bugs fixed, you can accept the whole or you can go without.

Arthmoor and I actually had a lengthy discussion about Necromage -- we came to the conclusion that just amplifying the power of spells was one thing, enchantments were more iffy, and bolstering abilities indicated that it was a bug, especially since the player only has the ActorTypeUndead keyword by proxy, being one of the vampire races (NPCs need the keyword to properly respond to certain spell effects).

And no, no way to do the quest without reloading. Might be possible to restart it, but you can't reset a quest or undo an actor's "dead count," and I'm fairly certain the stage would be at 200 which would make all the dialogue conditioned on lower-value stages not appear.
