Skyrim and costum content

Some months ago I decided I wanted to add some CC to Skyrim, making day and night cycle more realistic along with the needs to eat and sleep and to keep warm. Since I was in another continent atm I had only brought my laptop and tried to install it there. I don't know what went wrong, but after I installed it the game wouldn't load. I tried several removing and reloads of the CC, then I tried to uninstall and re install my game. None of it worked so I called Bethesda. We e-mailed back and forwards for over 2 weeks, giving me 4 increasingly complicated ways to fix my game on, in the end I just gave up since nothing worked.

I really want to try those adds, but I don't want to risk [censored] up the game on my main computer. Have anyone else had the problem with installing adds? I get the first screen where you can choose play. options data files etc, but whenever I click play I get a short loading screen and then I'm back to desktop. Happens both if I try to start if from desktop or from inside steam. Does anyone else had this problem.

I don't have all the time in the world to play and I've never gotten further than lvl 24 or something in this game, never completed never the main quests or civil war or anything. Think I killed 2 or 3 dragons at the most then I accidentally deleted my main character and had to start over. I kinda want to play a char with those adds on my first real play though so I won't know to much of what's lying ahead. but I'm afraid I'll mess it up permanently as I did on my laptop and I won't be able to play it at all.

Anyone have any experience with these kind of problems or any idea on how to fix my laptop or preventing from happening in my main game?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

question: are you sure your Laptop was powerful enough to handle Skyrim + what ever mods you were using?

So, to be clear, the game didn't work even after removing the mods (CC) altogether? If this is the case, I cannot help you.

If, however, you only have this problem when trying to start the game with the mods, then it could have something to do with the load order. Perhaps you should look into this: https://boss-developers.github.io/%C2%A0

I modded Oblivion some time back and remember BOSS (Google "Skyrim BOSS" if the link doesn't work) being quite useful. I had the same problem with Oblivion.

Oh, and please consider funnybunny's question.

^ LOOT would be the way to go nowadays:

http://loot.github.io/

It pretty much replaced BOSS. That's probably also why your link doesn't even lead to an existing website anymore...

Strange... the link works when clicked on from Google.

But this is good to know regardless.

Which mods, specifically, are you using? Also, are you operating off a Steam Installation? I ask because a lot of local content inevitably gets saved even after a uninstall - meaning you may not be getting rid of the offending files completely. Same goes for mods - if they alter your .ini file in any way, simply deleting them isn't going to fix the problem (Which is why a lot of overhaul mods fully recommends you make a backup of your pre-mod data files in case of something like this).

Once we have a better idea of which mods were used we will be in a better position to help you.

Found my 3 first e-mails to Bethseda and their reply to the first two:

I was trying to install a mod to my game. Realistic needs and diseases

I did all the steps you told me in this e-mail, but I still have the same problem. I can not get past the play/options/data files/tech support/exit options. All the options except the most important one "play" works fine. Not sure what to do now, why "play" won't send me on to the game, but instead just reload the same page again instead. :(

(continued it didn't all fit in one post):

Tried that before I contacted you the first time and it didn't work. Tried it again and it didn't work now either. Both times there was one file that they said something about, and both time they said it fixed it, but I still can't get past the initial screen.

After that I pretty much gave up, so I guess Bethesda think it's fixed, but I just gave up instead. My laptop is brand new and more than able to run the game. I played it for a few hours without mods first on the hugest settings and it had no problems.

The post are a bit messy as the forum doesn't seem to allow big post like this to be pasted in, but I guess you can figure out what is from me and what is from Bethseda. And yes I was working of a steam installation and I think I was using Nexus.

The thing is, Bethesda while supporting modding, DO NOT provide tech support for modding. All they can do is try to help get your game back into a working vanilla state without the mods.

For mod support you're better off in the modding forum where other users can help you.

But if you're adding mods and the game then doesn't load, then you're missing a master ie: Another mod that is required by the one you've installed.

I uninstalled the mods BEFORE I contacted Bethseda. At that time I just wanted my vanilla game to work. ( with the 2 official releases from Bethseda, Hearthfire and dragonborn or what it was called)

Did you accidentally click on the Dawnguard option of RND, if you don't own that? Or perhaps Pure Waters or Drinking Fountains?

Also - are you running the latest version of Skyrim?
