Not sure where to ask.
I predict they will announce Fallout 4. Perfect marketing: Boston...Boston.
They livestreamed some http://www.bethblog.com/2015/03/05/wolfenstein-the-old-blood-twitch-gameplay-reveal/ and I presume they have a booth with at least Battlecry and ESO with Update 6.
/sigh
Let us assume for the moment that the "leaked" casting call scripts that Kotaku reported are in fact, legitimate. Casting call scripts are not actual scripts. They aren't even heavily modified scripts. They are totally separate from the project itself. So if a casting call script says Boston, that doesn't mean anything. In reality, there is more of a chance for Fallout 4 being set in Boston, if those casting call scripts are fake than if they are real.
Why would anyone create a fake script for a casting call, you ask? Quite simply, in order to have a casting call, you need to give scripts to people outside of the organization whom you have little control over. If one of them violates the NDA and the script leaks, there is no real damage done, but if you are using real storyline scripts, there is very little you can do. (Yes, yes, I know. Why take precautions for things that never happen?)
Bethesda Softworks' FIRST EVER E3 press conference makes it unlikely they would announce anything big at Pax East. Consider: Bethesda Softworks' press conference is scheduled a day before E3 officially starts. It is isn't the first press conference it is one of the first. A Tripple-A game reveal or (even better) reveal and demo would have a major impact. It will definately steal some thunder from all the other game development houses. It could even turn E3 2015 into "Bethesda's Show). That won't happen if they do a reveal at Pax East. Don't get me wrong, a reveal at Pax East and a demo at E3 would be exciting, but it wouldn't have anywhere near the impact.
Of course, I am not in charge of Bethesda and they can do it any way they want, but with the E3 press conference, a big reveal at Pax East just doesn't make any sense.
Yes and no. I actually think a teaser announcement prior to E3 is possible. Remember, just having a logo and 30-second teaser video isn't spoiling anything, and most of us would be far more interested in seeing the gameplay/major info dump that comes a month or so later. Bethesda does these teasers for most of their games, and E3 is a much better place for pulling back the curtain on some real content rather than just a tiny announcement video.
But I think PAX East is too far away from E3. Even if the game is set in Boston, I still don't think that would actually make them decide to do it at PAX. I mean, okay: it's set in Boston and the event's in Boston, but really... who actually gives a damn? I think people exagerate the significance of it.
I am hoping for The Elder Scrolls VI instead of Fallout: 4, but either would work, because both are awesome games - even though I am more of a Elder Scrolls fan.
Well, at PAX Aus last year they focused heavily on BATTLECRY, even let people play a pre-alpha build (which I was really surprised with, looked pretty good and was really fun to play) and had a panel about it, which was also interesting. Wouldn't surprise me if they did something similar, but on a larger scale.
Well, looks like Bethesda-Zenimax was pretty much keeping on the sidelines at Pax-E. Interesting that they did a sudden drop announcement of the stand alone prequel to Wolfenstein, maybe to keep some active presence in the gaming market leading up to E-3? Watching the gameplay video feed tho was kind of discouraging... certain aspects of it made me think of the fallout series
I feel like announcing something big on Pax east, is a little bit odd.
I barely even knew there was a pax east if it wasn't for all the speculation. And if they have booked some time at e3, why not do the big announcement there? E3 is more known at least world wide.
And Boston makes sense IF they are making Fallout 4 right now, and IF that game takes place in Boston. Which are two things that as far as I know is not set in stone by any credible articles or statements.
Sort of covered this in a different thread, but the backdrop for the next FO game should have been determined long ago, unless BGS has done nothing with the IP since FO-NV dropped. Boston as the game's locale was in some ways the most plausible, tho certainly not confirmed, due to the "Voice casting scripts' Kotaku publicized about a year ago. (BGS never denied the legitimacy of them) That PAX-E is hosted in Boston would seem like a good way to launch the title IF those scripts were truly related to the game conceptualization. Right now any guess is as good as another.....
Many of us have projected that BGS will announce their new game this year. The earliest point was Pax-E, the latest being Quakecon, if a 2015 release is the target ( which is a reasonable expectation, given Skyrim dropped over 3 years ago...) E-3 appears to be the flash point now..... but who knows how BGS plans to actually get the hype train in motion... That train has been started numerous times, but there's been no track to follow....
The Wolfeinstein announcement is very, very good news actually.
Just a few days before it was made, I actually said that - if anything - Bethesda has too much to show off at a single 1 hour demo. We know there'll be a big DOOM reveal, and both Wolfenstein and The Evil Within will invariably get DLC. Then there's Battlecry, and the very high probability of a Dishonored 2/ Arkane Studios reveal, along with a bit of TES:O news.
It's impossible to fit that all into an hour and have Fallout 4, so I speculated that they would start dropping announcements early, particularly for less significant titles. And they did. So, every non-BGS announcement that occurs before the event just increases the chances that they're using E3 as a platform for a big BGS reveal.
