Big black blobs (mod error)

Post » Wed Mar 11, 2015 8:41 am

I tried installing a certain mod called FPS Counter by Pharago. Now it said that first, I had to install SKSE, so I did that and everything worked fine. Then I installed FPS Counter with the Nexus Mod Manager. So I go into the game to test it. First of all, the mod doesn't do what it said it would--display a count of my game's FPS in the upper corner. But I noticed there were these huge, dark, shadowy blobs all over the ground. By dark I mean black. Some of them appeared where you would expect shadows to be, but some were just out in the middle of the ground. So I uninstalled FPS Counter and... the blobs are still there!!! How do I get rid of them!?

By the way, I downloaded it in the first place because my FPS is really low--I have no idea, but I'd have to say it's running at no more than 15 FPS right now. Any ideas for slow game?

Looks like it's just 2 files. Did you remove both? What happens when you load an earlier save? New game?

If you want a FPS counter best one out there is FRAPS.

Tried an earlier save, the blobs were still there. I'll try a new game right after this. All I did was go into NMM and hit "delete". What do you mean by 2 files?

Update: Started a new game and the shadows are still there.

If you want to monitor your FPS, your best bet is to just use FRAPS:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24239/?%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0<==== Is this the FPS you installed?

Download it manually and open it. There's actually just one file that's install. One is the .xml fomod file that NMM uses.

The other is installed in the SKSE directory. Check the directory and see that the file is indeed deleted. There's probably a .ini file too. You can delete that also.

The SKSE directory is in the data directory from the SKyrim main folder. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\data

Make you delete all the files there and then try an earlier save and new game. As stated, use FRAPS for your FPS needs. There is a link above.

Well, I don't know how, but somehow I got rid of the shadows. I installed Fraps and the results are even worse than I expected... gameplay is at about 7-12 FPS, never any higher than 13. I'm going to make a new post. Thanks guys!
