Video Tutorials - What do you want to see?

Post » Wed Mar 11, 2015 3:30 am

Morning all,

We've likely done this in some capacity before but it isn't something we should only run once.

Aspiring modders, what would you like to see video tutorials for? Story manager? Radiant quests? Scripting?

Post below if there's something you'd like to see! For people with the skills you can do the videos users request to, it's not just for me, although I'll be doing a few. Just comment to say if you'll be doing one :)

If a video already covers a particular subject enough we can just post a link.

Maybe a 'Scripting Basics' video that covers the basic rules of scripting as well as teaching the basics of the Papyrus language? In other words a 'Beginners Guide To Scripting.'

Ok there's plenty of great scripting basics/example videos already

Or do you think there's something specific that needs to be covered?

Advanced AI packages. Creating entirely new ones is not something I'm all that good at and haven't found any tuts out there.

I can sort of figure it out but not entirely.

I would love a tutorial on Effect Shaders. They are so difficult to understand for beginners, and seriously fumble-in-the-dark try, try, try again until you're satisfied.

I've done a fair bit of leg work with them but it's all just guess work. Probably a good idea for someone who wouldn't use a lot of *erm's* in the video to do that one ;)

Activating specific items with a specific spell.
Making an animal have a sleep pagage like NPCs where they go to a specific item(straw pile) and sleeps on it or eat packages where it goes to a location and drops it's head like it's eating.

Making an item have some sort of visual effects when activated.

Making a msc item be a static and a static be moveable.

Nifscope mashups.

Changing the colors of things with glowing efects.

The Whiterun symbol that glows when you hit it with a spell to enter. How to make a version that always glows.

I tried one. It laid dowm, got up, laid down, got up. It looked like it was having a spaz attack or doing exercizes not curling up for a nice nap.
