That little triangle....

I'm sure this has been asked before - I did try searching first! What does the little triangle to the right of some things in your inventory list signify?
Thx.....

I believe that means it has either higher damage than the current weapon equipped or higher armor rating than the currently selected armor piece equipped

It signifies an estimate that the item you're viewing is more effective than the one you have equipped. However, you should not always rely on it; certain items are better than others for specific tasks. For instance, Dawnbreaker is better than many weapons for destroying undead targets.

Heh. Agreed. It's not so much the difficulty for me, but how lazily produced the quest was.

Not only that, sometimes some weapons will be obviously better, but you won't notice if you don't actually check the stats. That's because, iirc, it's evaluated by the tradeable value of the weapon instead of it's actual statistics.

Also, it's essentially the same thing, but it doesn't mark the weapon that is better than what you have equipped or you'd have a LOT of stuff marked, it marks the single best weapon or armor that's best among all the other items of the same type that are in your inventory.

So best thing to do is just check the stats! :)

I've ended up ignoring the little triangle. It doesn't take into account, for example, whether or not the item/spell in question is relevant to your current build. For example, if the build has reached level 35, has invested in one-handed and dual wields, but has never practiced blocking the little indicator will highlight a looted shield in inventory. It makes sense, your AC will improve, but that's not what the build is about.

I prefer the option to mark items as Favorites.
