hi all..

Hi
just started playing SR and loving it. Couple of questions if I may. A couple of quests have appeared and I'm not sure why. Visit the Shrine of Azura. I'm there now but a witch just attacks me. I've checked a SR wiki and this seems to be part of another quest. Also Talk to Aventus Aretino. I have many other quests but I understand where they are from and their place in the game...but those two??
Fantastic game tho!!!

Welcome to the forums! :)

Both of these quests are usually picked up by talking to innkeepers and asking them about the latest rumors. The Azura quest may also be gotten through a random encounter.

The priestess at Azura's shrine attacking could be a bug, or it could be due to you having a bounty in Winterhold. Check your bounties, and if you have one from Winterhold, pay it off and then try going to the shrine again. If she's hostile and you have no bounty, try leaving, waiting a few days someplace else and then going back to the shrine. She should be neutral toward you again.

Welcome, David! I have been playing the game since it first came out and I still love it! I usually like a fighter/thief with some Destruction magic. For the first time, I am playing

a Mage (still have a bow, tho)--so the game is new to me in a way, as I have to play differently.

Tell us about your character: Fighter, Mage, Thief, Good/Bad guy?

Have fun. Mike

You may have killed a chicken. The holds are very protective of their chickens.

Oh no, a chicken. How do I check my bounties? And I'm playing imperial. And you don't choose a class do you, as such....
Haven't played today yet, will do shortly. I'll return!! :-)

Thanks SG. I'm SO tempted to start again now I know a lot more of how the game works. Plus I won't have these quests I don't know about that are bugging me - I'm a bit anol like that! And how cani find ifi havea bounty on my head? Got another quest that I don't remember - Talk to danica about the Gildergreen being destroyed. I'm using an app btw, a skyrim wiki. It's excellent, I highly recommend it. Any other appsi should get? I've got the Alchemy one as well....jeez this game is so good!!!

To check for bounties, go to the General Stats page (if you're playing on the PC, hit the ESC key; if you're playing on a console, hit the Start button; then select General Stats from the ribbon menu). Click the Crime tab on the General Stats page. If you have any current bounties, they'll be listed by hold above the Total Lifetime Bounty stat. If you don't see anything listed there, then you have no bounties.

That quest about the Gildergreen is called Blessings of Nature, and you probably picked it up by talking to Hulda, the innkeeper at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun, and asking her about the latest gossip (but the bard in the same inn will also give you the quest.). There are a lot of quests that are picked up by talking to the innkeepers all over Skyrim.

To quote Leo Durocher: David, "You ain't seen nuthin' yet!" Enjoy and then enjoy some more!!!!! BTW, I usually stop a character at around Level 50. But, I am running two characters now, and my Bowman/Swordsman Fighter is at L 88. Some people are 'way over

100 and still having fun with the same dude (or dudette).

Thx Leo... I'm guessing I've gota long way to go yet. In my first attempt i tried having a nose around some caves I found on the way to that shrine, full of Falmers. The last one had some horrid creature with it and they kept kicking my ass. Think I'll level up a bit before i attempt that again!
Anyway, as I said i restarted and I'm back to where I was. Just killed first dragon and got my first shout and have to report to Jarl Balgruf (just delivered some salts to Arcadia. It's great cause she let me take LOADS of stuff from her store :-) ). My only quests at mo are visit college at Winterhold and join imperial Legion. Should I join? I'm a high elf this time.

It's definitely a good idea to stay out of Falmer caves and dungeons until you've leveled up some. They're just about the toughest ones you'll find in the game. The horrid creature with the Falmer is called a Chaurus, and a group of them can be a real problem for even a high-level character to deal with.

About the Arentino thing, you don't even have to talk to anyone to get a quest in your journal. That specific quest is mostly obtained the moment you get near a guard in Windhelm, he'll comment on a rumor about Arentino, and puff, you got the quest. I personally find it annoying cause it's such a pain in the ass to avoid guards like a maniac for all characters that visit the city but don't want to have anything to do with the Dark Brotherhood. :P Few other quests work like this, it's enough to get a comment from someone you're passing by, or overhear a conversation between two NPCs, and the quest will automatically start.

Chaka!!! Exactly!!! I just said as much in another post two minutes ago. Such a pain in the ass. When you're as anol as I am. I like to keep things neat and tidy and just have quests I'm interested in in my list, not cluttered up. That's the reason I started the game over cause I'd collected a bunch of quests I had NO idea what they were about. Wouldn't be such a big patch to sort that of would it? Just a simple "Do you accept this quest Y/N?"

You will always have quests, most are not time sensitive so do them, or not, at your leisure.

Hate how some quests get added without you even agreeing to do them. Just starting a conversation or passing a guard.

Hopefully Bethesda will learn and give us a way to either delete quests or hide quests so we don't have to look at them.
