Just getting started, what do you think of my character?

I just bought the Elder Scrolls Anthology. I played Morrowind briefly on XBox years ago and I want to give in anther go. I'm not interested right now in any mods, I just want to experience the game as it was. I've played solid for about three days, trying different things and creating the character I thought I wanted. Before I got too far, I decided I didn't like the character I had. I want a well rounded character, good and both combat and magic. So I picked Imperial Race with a custom class. Here are my stats at game start:

Specialization: Stealth

Favorite Attributes: Int, Personality

Sign: The Ritual

Str 30, Int 50, Will 30, Agil 30, Speed 40, End 40, Person 60, Luck 40

Majors: Illusion, Destruction, Restoration, Mysticism, Alteration (all at 30)

Minors: Speechcraft 30, Mercantile 30, Longblade 25, Lt Armor 25, Alchemy 15

Misc: I have 15 Hand to Hand and 10s in Blunt Weapon, Security, Sneak, Acrobatics, Short Blade, and Marksman. All others are at 5.

What are your thoughts? I think I will like this better. I don't really want to get into Enchantment. It's complicated and expensive. Thanks!

You just wont have enough magicka with that build. If you want to play a character that relies a lot on magic then you really need to be either an Altmer or Breton and have either The Mage, Apprentice or Atronach birthsign. You could get around playing another race with The Atronach, but with your build you'll only start with 50 magicka which is nothing. You need to start with over 100 unless you're only using the occasional healing or recall spell for example, but you stated you wanted a character with a good skill in magic, not just for utility purposes.

I agree with Jango.

I think you need to focus on exactly how your character is going to kill stuff and avoid being killed, and then design accordingly. You need some kind of offensive skill with a level of at least 30, and some kind of major defensive skill. That could be magic, but not with the Race/Birthsign/Specialization you've chosen. And be warned that a mage-type character is difficult for a new Morrowind player, as there's a lot of micromanaging.

For your Imperial, I would throw out Alteration, Destruction and Illusion, which you will never be able to use effectively (too little magicka), and move Longblade and Light Armor into the Majors. Put Security in. Put Enchant in as a minor (not to enchant, but to be better at using enchanted stuff), and also possibly Armorer.

Magic is not going to work for this character.

Incidentally, why the Ritual? I would suggest the Lady, and really make use of your superior Speechcraft.

I'd recommend you still use the Code Patch for the anti-crash fixes. I don't think crashes add anything valuable to the experience. :)

Edit: Almost forgot the most important. Welcome to the forums and here's your http://images.uesp.net/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg.
