How many cells does the maximum vanilla view distance cover?

Just wondering. Is it 1?

I believe, the cell you are in and the surrounding 8 cells, so 9 cells (3x3) are loaded at a time.

Are you sure? I have 10 cells loaded with MGEXE and see much much further than maximum vanilla.

The numbers of cells loaded in memory and the view distance are two different things in the vanilla version.

The number of cells loaded is determined by the line "ExteriorCellBuffer=..." in the morrowind.ini

Whatever value is set, the maximum view distance in vanilla Morrowind is just the cell you're in, that is, 7168 game units iirc.
