Startup Issues

Hello,

Im sorry if this is a duplicate, as i couldnt find anything i posted this.

ok so few months ago my Fallout and Fallout NV were working fine, i had been playing with mods and everything, i stopped playing and now i went to play again and now neither game is working, i ran both the Script Extenders for both games as i usually do and they worked before but now now, as soon as i start the game it crashes and i need to end the processes via Task manager, so i turned off all mods and tried again and still same thing. i tried this with both and nothing, i also tried the Verify Intregrity of the files via Steam and still no go. can anyone please help ? :)

Thank you

Did you make any sort of hardware change since you last played it? If so, you probably have to delete the ini files for each game and let the game create a new one. That will mean starting the games once without the script extenders.

So are you trying to run the game from a pre-install then? Because replacing your motherboard usually means having to reinstall everything. The computer's registry file will no longer be valid and has to be redone. As for your ini files, they are in your Documents/MyGames folder, inside the particular game's folders.

Did you delete the ini files? You'll need to start the games using the default launchers after you do that, not with the script extenders.

Did you follow the steps in this thread?

No, no, no. You don't delete the ini files that are in your game folder, only the one that are in your Documents folder. Especially not the Fallout_default.ini one. The game uses that as a template in order to create the working ini file.

Well I'm stumped. Another thing you might want to try is installing some third party codecs. Two options are K-Lite or Sharky's, just Google either one to find them. Though I'm guessing those may not help you. There's probably something with your current hardware setup that's causing a problem. It would probably be helpful if you posted a DXDiag of your system.

That doesn't do any good. You need to click that Save information button and post the test file it creates online. That single screen doesn't provide enough information.

So basically you just pulled your hard drive out of 1 computer and put it in another.

Delete EVERYTHING for Fallout 3 and reinstall it.

Dont forget that new updated vs of windows live.
