I hope you don't put any hope in this because the "next gen" game will be TES6, if there is one. Sorry for you.
Bethesda should open up a special forum just for all the "Remaster Skyrim for next gen consoles!" threads.

Once again: why? What's the point?
Uhm... it'll look prettier?
Next-gen 'remasters' are pretty much just cash-ins on a games success that make it look a bit (sometimes a lot!) nicer. Remasters of much older games, like the recent remasters of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, can also have some gameplay tweaks and improvements, like better dungeon layouts, quest and journal improvements, etc. so those tend to be a bit 'more' for your money. Remaking a game as recent as Skyrim would pretty much be for purely aesthetic (and on the dev's part, financial) reasons.
Not too mention they are likely close to finished Fallout 4 if they started working on it after they were done with Skyrim, so the bit of added revenue they would get from such a venture would not go to that, but to their next game. You also have to take into account they would have to spend man-hours working on the tweaks that would be needed to make this work in the first place, as that would take time out of developing their next game that I would rather they just put into that.
So no, I would rather they didn't.
But surely Skyrim 2: Alduin's Revenge will be a thing, right? Right?
Bethesda didn't remaster either Arena or Daggerfall for consoles, or to update them to a Windows environment for PC, so they're presently difficult to play on PC (requires either "emulation" software or an ancient version of the operating system), and impossible otherwise. They didn't remaster Morrowind for additional console platforms after OB expanded into those markets, or to add updated graphics or other technical improvements and bugfixes. They didn't remaster OB when Skyrim came out. I have zero expectations of them remastering the most recent game, which is still considered "current generation".
Because different avenues of role-playing, even if it doesn't float your goat, are something most people tend to enjoy discussing as opposed to the tried and true "The Game: Remastered Edition" that tends to permeate any given forum for any series.
Welcome to the Elder Scrolls forum!
Bethesda's history is to never go back and redo a project once they finish with it. They probably have long since decided that any potential profits were outweighed by the need to take people off current projects.
One never knows what the future will bring, though.
Sure, but it's no harder to write "Welcome to the forum. Sorry to say, Bethesda doesn't do remasters." than it is to write some kind of put-down.
Another thread created by a new person about a topic that has been literally beaten to death, and constantly beaten after that into oblivion?
I mean, I played Skyrim on PS3 and now I have a PS4, and even I think it's fine on PS3 (even without modding it).
So another one of these threads? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEMimY0HyUk
Another post by someone who didn't bother to read the other moderator's post.
Really people, it takes much less effort to ignore a thread you don't have any interest in because you've seen it a thousand times than it does to bother to post in it, stating how you're tired of it and its a dead horse that has been beaten to oblivion.
If you don't like the topic, please don't bother to post. If you want to post, be polite, point out another thread the op can use if they want a discussion, and leave it alone. There really is no need to be so snarky and jaded and cynical and all sorts of stuff like that. There are more than enough sub atomic horse particles floating around here without adding more "this is a dead horse and I've seen it beaten too much" posts.
I'm not going to be snarky here, don't worry
But OP, Skyrim is unlikely to get remade and I would want Bethesda to focus more resources on making Fallout 4 and TES VI better games than their predecessors, or at least different. Skyrim with mods can make it look next-gen, though, if you don't mind playing on PC.
Another response that states an incorrect assumption.
I'll just say that I don't hate these threads. I love them. They offer quite a bit of amusemant on an otherwise slow day. But you can imagine the frustration that people have when you see these new threads pop up, very often from extremely new, if not completely fresh, users.
I mean, I'm not going to question how you guys handle things, but I think it's a fair question as to why these just aren't locked immediately with a point to a sticky note somewhere of "Dead Ideas" or a merged thread. Then again, that might be a dead idea as well, so to be fair, I'm going to catch up on some reading.
Agreed on all points. Welcome to the forum Eternal Fuzzy!
And to other posters in this thread, I would add that the search function for this forum is pretty much broken, so new members are not to blame for not knowing about prior threads.
You do realize that most of the mods have seen just as many if not more dead horse type threads than some of the posters have? When I first started it was about the puzzlebox and OMG Fargoth is gay threads. And where are the hostile mudcrabs. And Gaenor. And where is the level 99 werewolf on Solstheim. And all the stuff from Oblivion. And Fallout3. And FNV. And Skyrim.
You can read and enjoy all the amusemant you want, and still not comment on threads if you aren't really interested in participating in a discussion. If a thread really offends anyone's sense of propriety or looks as though it might be a problem, use the report button. The Report Button is your Friend. It alerts all the mods there might be a problem.
People new to there forums shouldn't be afraid to post. If they bring up a well worn subject, then people can do what glargg did, or simply use the report button and move on. Posting about the subject being a dead horse or talked to death or whatever isn't really contributing to the discussion.
I think it is a valid proposition that a forum be devoted to a subject that is obviously on many people's minds right now and which many people obviously want. It would be a place where many like-minded folks could discuss a common interest and possibly catch Bethesda's ear and maybe even get results. If it accomplished nothing else, such a forum would signal to these people that Bethesda takes their concerns seriously (which is something that, I think, they do not feel now).
If that is not possible then I think - as ladyinthemoon has suggested - that these threads should be merged into one official "next-gen remastered TES" thread, similar to the official TES VI thread. Duplicate threads on this topic could be locked and folks could be directed to post their comments in the official thread.
I think it is more rude to let these threads pile up unacknowledged and to greet these concerns with silence and apparent unconcern than it is to suggest that a forum be created for them, a place that acknowledges tangibly, for once, that these people have legitimate concerns.
That sounds like a good suggestion, unless it's handled the same way as the "Steam" threads, which are quickly locked and merged with the giant Steam thread in a section of the forum where it will never be seen by the vast majority of the posters. There are three ways to hide dissent or problems: address them openly, deal with them harshly as a threat to the "powers that be", or quietly shuffle them off to never-neverland where they will not intrude on the consciousness of anyone else, yet still "exist" as a meager sliver of acknowledgement for the sake of the poster and the handful of other complainers who have experienced the same problems.
These "remaster" threads should probably be locked, and a quick "standardized" reply added to direct them to the long-term thread on the topic, but NOT removed or relocated for something like 3 to 5 days. That way, people can see that the subject is active, and post relevant comments on the topic, without littering the forum with 183 identical inquiries for all of eternity (or until the next server incident, whichever comes first). It also hopefully "informs" the next couple of people that have the same question that it's not acceptable to post a new topic on the subject, when they see the locked thread.
Good points. I will bring it up for discussion in the mods forum. At first glance, there is no reason starting a thread couldn't be done.
