Deep Wounds Perk (and Blademaster, by extension)

Post » Mon Apr 06, 2015 5:56 am

Just a quick question on the Deep Wounds (2-handed swords) perk.

The description says 10% chance to do critical damage. Now, I know the whole argument of critical damage being pointless, but that's beside the point. My question is really regarding ranks 2 and 3 of this perk. The Descriptions are as follows:

2. 15% Chance of doing MORE Critical Damage.

3. 20% Chance of doing EVEN MORE Critical Damage.

Critical Damage is +50% of base damage of a given weapon. Do ranks 2 and 3, in fact, increase the amount of Critical Damage done, or is this another case of the perk description being inaccurate, and only the % chance for Critical Damage is increased? I did a search but couldn't find anything one way or another.

I went ahead and took both perks, anyway, since I didn't have anything else to spend the perks on. I'm just curious.

I believe it is only an increased chance of critical damage occurring, not increased damage. I have no prof, but that's what think the deal is, else they would likely have worded it differently.

According to UESP, extra ranks do indeed increase the damage - and more is dealt when doing a sprinting power attack with Great Critical Charge.

The numbers are not huge, but if you've got the perks to spare, I think it's a fine investment. After all, that few extra points of damage might be the difference between a foe getting in one more attack against you or taking a knee.

Huh! Learn something new every day... While I always take deep wounds eventually, I never really noticed the damage increase.

Thanks. Wonder how i missed this article in my search.

So, the 3rd rank of Deep Wounds actually isnt that bad, doing nearly double base damage 20% of the time.

Wow, some of those multipliers are completely wrong.

For example deep wounds 1 should either be x1.5 or +0.5.
