The Elder Scrolls Online worth it?

I'm a huge fan of The Elder Scrolls, but my friends keep telling me it's not that great. I would rather have someones opinion on here considering this is the best place to talk about it.

I love elder scrolls i really do even got the collection for eso. But that is where it ends the game is your very basic mmo with a elder scrolls skin. It did not last long before been forced into free to play. The main story was interesting but the game is self is horrible. Worse was the mega server it made it really hard for us in Australia to take on alot. Pvp and bosses required quick thinking and moving not good when you are seconds behind the server.

Rate 2 / 10

Edit: my opinion could be abit hard after i logged in and found i had lost my main guy. It took months and alot of painful talks to get him back to somewhat with no items. Was not long after i gave up as my mates stopped playing as well.

Ahh ok that's definitely along the line of what i was looking for in a response. I was hoping that it would atleast be a little decent, but that's the same answers my friends tell me. Hopefully i can get some more insight, i just hope it's tolerable if you are a hardcoe fan of the series.

Mmm i am :(

I still play all the elder scroll games lol and morrow and oblivion are more easier to play. But id recommend one of your mates letting you use there account so you can see. It is fun for a little but that drops quickly.

I've played.... most MMO's, from Runescape to Star Trek Online, to Tera and WoW. WoW is, by far, still the best MMO out there, but for me ESO comes in well ahead of the others for second place. It has some server issues, but they're generally not as bad as what you'd see with Perfect World games or The Old Republic, and it's got easily the most interesting character progression system going (even if it's horribly unbalanced and only a handful of builds are competitively viable).

Is it worth the cost of the game? For me, definitely. And i got the collectors edition. It's not worth a subscription fee, mind you.

The added lore, on the other hand, is worth my kidneys. Even if i'm rather disappointed by Blackmarsh and Valenwood in terms of visuals, a great deal of the new lore is amazing.

Ok so is the lore still intact when it comes to tes? I heard it isn't spot on in some parts. Oh and i'm not worriedd about bad servers or buggy things because that is to be expected with a new mmo. I am actually more worried about story, sidequests, lore, character progression, the hud, and basically the kind of things that give a good feel to the gameplay. Also how are the visuals in general? I know it can't be like Skyrim, but for such a massive mmo, is it still decent?

ESO's graphics are really scalable, and depending on your settings can run from general mud to almost Skyrim-on-console. Cyrodiil, Morrowind and Skyrim look like you remember, and they've actually done some interesting things with Dres and Indoril architecture to blend the Mournhold aesthetic with the Vardenfel. High Rock looks pretty good, as does Hammerfell, and Elsweyr is better than i would have imagined. Valenwood and Blackmarsh are largely boring generic jungle and swamp respectively, though even they contain some interesting elements (the Argonian cities, for instance). Summerset is absolutely bog standard LoTR and visually not interesting at all. The range of armour designs and monster aesthetics aren't bad, and offer far more variety than you'd get in any regular TES game, and some of the new Daedra are just awesome.

Some of the Lore is odd. The presence of The Lusty Argonian Maid for instance. Most of it is great though, and it probably added the most new lore since Redguard.

The story is relatively standard, though there are some wonderful characters along the way, far better than what we've seen in Skyrim or Oblivion.

The progression is... unique. If you're expecting standard leveling you're gonna need to adjust. Skills level independently, and while you need to spend points to unlock abilities you need to level skill lines to meet requirements. I actually vastly prefer the range of options, though again, there are some major balance issues.
